Expert Analysis

Ferguson stood out at the Battle of the Regions with his explosive runs and ability to reach top-end speed in a hurry, making him a constant threat whenever he touched the ball. He showed impressive burst off the line and was particularly dangerous attacking the edge, where his acceleration and sharp cutting ability allowed him to create separation and turn small creases into big gains. Ferguson runs with confidence and natural instincts, demonstrating the kind of playmaking ability that can change momentum quickly. As he continues to develop, adding size and strength will be key, but with his current speed profile and agility, he projects as a high-upside back who could become a major offensive weapon at the next level.

Perhaps it’s a no-brainer to say, but the best teams typically have the best players at key positions — and that was the case with Region 2. didn’t score, his contributions did not go unnoticed. Ran very decisively and suddenly. Used his speed to get to the second level and displayed cutback vision that is essentially uncoachable. He is a prospect that has upped his stock as a RB a ton.

While I haven’t taken a deep dive into the Running Back group that was selected for this 7th Grade KY Future Stars yet, I do know 3/5 of the names selected. I mention that, because looking at film alone, I would have pegged Ferguson for a balance/power Running Back. He’s a powerful kid that runs close to the ground and arrives with bad intentions. On the defensive side of the ball, Ferguson is more of a MLB at this point but long term I still see him toting the rock.
