Damien (La Verne) defensive back Jaxson Gates Jaxson Gates Jaxson Gates 6'1" | 170 lbs | DB Damien | 2026 State CA announced his commitment to BYU on Tuesday.

Gates was previously committed to Syracuse, but withdrew his commitment in late June. He also had offers from Michigan State, Utah and Boise State among others.

He had a standout performance at the National Preps Showcase this spring. Gates is the third player from California in BYU’s 2026 recruiting class and the fourth defensive back.
