Kingsbury is a dynamic outside linebacker from St. Rita. He measures in at 6’1, 220 lbs and plays with an extremely high motor. While Kingsbury possesses that traits that could also make him an elite inside backer, he played mostly on the edge for the Mustangs in his junior campaign. Kingsbury plays with a relentless pursuit that allows him to always find himself around the football. He is quick in short area and times blitzes well to wreak havoc in the pocket. He is also a stout tackler who knocks ball carriers backwards at the point of attack. Keep an eye on Kingsbury as he heads into his senior year.

James is an exciting off ball LB with the stout play style that will garner him next level attention. Kingsbury has a powerful 6’1″ 225 lbs frame, and that size hasn’t hindered him on the field. James is able to play out in space, including over the slot. He is able to slide and change direction with ease. James is able to flip a switch and play physical when needed also. He can fight off blocks, and shows that flash of burst when closing to make hits. Those hits pop off the highlight tape as he sends ball carriers flying into the dirt. James has a well rounded game, and puts an exclamation point on each play with his hard hits.

Kingsbury will patrol the middle of the defense for the Mustangs. While it is a tall task to try and contain the Caravan’s high powered offense, Kingsbury is up for the challenge. The 6’1, 215 lbs junior linebacker finished the regular season with 80 tackles. That number will continue to go up on Friday. He always finds himself around the ball, as Kingsbury plays with a high motor and football IQ that allows him to flow to the ball with ease. He is as good of a tackler as one will find. Keep an eye out for Kingsbury making plays around the ball all night on Friday.

The 6’0, 200 lbs outside linebacker from Chicago was a force in his sophomore campaign. Kingsbury plays with a violence off the edge that all college coaches look for. Last season for St. Rita, Kingsbury was nearly impossible to block. Whether he was faced with an offensive lineman, tight end, or wide receiver, Kingsbury showcased the ability to shed blocks with ease and deliver big hits on opposing ball carries. He throws his body into offensive players, often knocking them back on their heels and driving through them. Kingsbury also showcased some impressive plays on special teams, as he blocked a punt last year and delivered some devastating blocks to pave the way for his returners. In his junior season, opposing teams better know where Kingsbury is at all times.

The younger brother of 2023 St. Rita grad and Minnesota Gophers LB signee Matt, 6′, 200 lb. linebacker James Kingsbury James Kingsbury 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB St Rita | 2025 State IL is in the middle of writing his own story with the Mustangs and got things going impressively in 2022 as a starting ‘backer for the CCL heavyweight as a sophomore. He’s also one of the 2025 classes hardest hitters, and in the sophomore varsity film you can see the younger Kingsbury has a diverse array of big hits on both defense and special teams, sending opponents flying when he pursues out to the edge of the defense, is lead blocking as an upback on kick return coverage, or off a couple steps of momentum as an OLB. I love how he brings his hips and runs his feet through a tackle, and his strength is obvious as he sticks ball carriers and seems to easily prevent even an extra step of yardage from RBs and WRs past the initial point of contact. He can also go low or high with equal amount of force, and does a great job of using opponents” momentum against them and squashing gains where they stand. Just like his brother, Kingsbury is growing into a beast and already one of the Land of Lincoln’s hardest hitters coming out of the 2025s. I’d be psyched if he joined his brother in Dinkytown one day.
