Jones is an intriguing 5’9″ 155 pound pass catcher. He is a deep threat that tracks the ball downfield catching it over his shoulder. Like how he has shake at the top of his route keeping defensive backs off guard constantly setting them up. Slippery with the ball in his hands and doesn’t lose stride when catching the ball. Quality return man as well.

The name of the game for Jones is SPEED. The electrifying playmaker out of St. Rita was a big contributor for the Mustangs last fall, as Jones showcased his elite speed and acceleration on both special teams and in the vertical passing game. The 5’10, 165 lbs speedster is lightning quick, showcasing the ability to outrun almost any player on the field. Once Jones gets going, which happens in a hurry, he can separate with the best of them. Keep an eye on this rising star in the Land of Lincoln as he prepares to take on an even bigger role in his junior season.

St. Rita continues a trend of playmaking offensive weapons into their 2026 class with 5’9, 155 lber. Walter Jones Walter Jones 5'9" | 155 lbs | WR St Rita | 2026 State IL . Another Southside Wolfpack alum with a strong career in the middle school ranks, Jones continued the momentum into his freshman high school season, operating out of the slot and showing off some highlight-reel ability when the ball is in the air and after the catch. In the second play of his Hudl, it looks like he literally broke a defender’s ankles with a swift cut in the open field, and Jones also possesses game-breaking speed that can take advantage of only slight miscues in defensive pursuit and leverage angles and is confident and fearless when the ball is in the air and up for grabs. You can tell the non-varsity squads of the Mustangs took every opportunity to get the ball into his hands, and Jones made the most of it, popping off big plays in what should have been routine gains downfield. Tough, quick, fast, athletic, Jones showed it all as a freshman and we’re pumped to see how he continues to move up and develop to higher levels of competition.
