He can do it all on the football field from the quarterback position. He also picked up an offer from Ole Miss. A huge accomplishment for him. I suspect his offers will continue to grow as well. He has great size (6’3″) and athleticism. He was outstanding last season for Hopewell. His ability to make plays with his legs and his arm is impressive. He is a true dual-threat quarterback. Even though he is a great athlete, he also has good quarterback skills. He has a big arm, and he throws an accurate ball. Armstrong recruitment has heated up, and he currently has 10 Division One offers. I expect more offers to come his way; he is that talented a player.

He has this ability to make defenders miss and run through tackles. Then, as a passer, he has a gigantic arm. The left-hander knows how to uncork a big boy throw from the pocket. He also shows a good ability to throw accurate passes on deep balls. Armstrong is a talented kid who has a high ceiling, as he has a good chance of playing College Football in the future.

At six foot two with a left-handed release, he has all the natural traits you want in a dual-threat signal caller. He’s a lefty that can make all the throws necessary, and can push it down the field. The other dimension of his game is his legs. Armstrong thrives when plays break down. He shows composure under pressure, keeps his eyes downfield, and either delivers a strike or punishes defenses by taking off.

The designed run game only expands his value. On quarterback power and zone-read concepts he runs with toughness and downhill strength, but he also has the agility to make defenders miss in the open field. He is the type of quarterback you can build an entire offense around because he creates stress on defenses in multiple ways. As his mechanics and decision-making continue to grow, his ceiling is as high as anybody.

Wow, Hopewell’s James Armstrong James Armstrong 6'2" | 225 lbs | QB Hopewell | 2028 State PA had one of the best performances I have ever seen in High School history. He put up an eye-popping 609 yards of offense for Hopewell. He threw for 346 yards and rushed for 263 yards. The crazy part is that Hopewell lost to Beaver 51-50 in a back-and-forth scoring game. Armstrong deserves a game ball for his outstanding performance.

The number 2-ranked quarterback in the 2028 class was outstanding in a 31-6 win for Hopewell over New Castle. He threw for 229 yards on the night as he displayed good accuracy all night, throwing the ball. Then he rushed the ball for 108 yards and 4 touchdowns. Armstrong is a true dual-threat quarterback who can run the ball and throw the ball at a high level. He is in line for a huge season.

James Armstrong James Armstrong 6'2" | 225 lbs | QB Hopewell | 2028 State PA is a special talent at the QB position. As a passer, the arm is live, can make the ball go 50 yards in air without a sweat. His short game is timed well, slants and shallows are no problem for Armstrong as his timing on those throws are almost perfect. Armstrong really shines as a runner at this point in his young career, bowling through defenders but also has long speed that pairs well enough to make me see shades of former Alabama QB Jalen Milroe. Armstrong is a guy who people need to know as soon as possible because to me Armstrong is a special talent.

His ability to make plays as both a runner and a passer is excellent. As a runner, he is a physical runner who is hard to bring down. He also shows good speed as he can run past defenders. This is impressive as he was only a freshman this past season. Then, as a passer, he shows a strong arm but needs to get better with his accuracy. With more time put into fine-tuning, his delivery the skies the limit for him. He has all the physical tools but just needs to continue to grow as a player.

The passing numbers will have to improve going forward as he’s completed just 24-of-55 passing attempts but the Hopwell standout has proven to be a true dual threat quarterback early in his career with 77 rushing attempts for 266 yards and six touchdowns so far this season. As a passer, Armstrong has a big arm, good mechanics, and throws the ball with plenty of velocity. Improvement will come through the air with thime with Armstrong but he’s going to be an exciting quarterback to watch develop over the next several years.
