A leader on and off the field, Elijah Lyles brings a rare blend of physicality, awareness, and character that makes him a standout in the 2027 recruiting class.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Elijah combines on-field instincts with elite academic discipline. He is a multiple-time recipient of both the Gold Eagle Award and the Silver Eagle Award—the highest academic distinctions awarded at his school, earned consistently since sixth grade.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Elijah Lyles is one of the top football prospects in the Class of 2027. A dynamic and high-IQ free safety, Elijah led his team in solo tackles as a sophomore in 2024, racking up 64 solo tackles and 5 pass breakups. He finished the season with a total of 82 tackles and 2 interceptions, earning 2nd Team All-Region Defensive Back honors for his performance.

Lyles is a new name to me, despite a productive junior season and added recruiting buzz this month. A hybrid defender who can play in the box as an LB and outside as a DB. Long-term, should settle into a nickel/LB hybrid spot, where he can freely chase after the football. He is best coming downhill, where he can close space and aggressively engage the ball carrier, but he does have the speed and coverage skills to carry routes vertically if needed. Every college team has one of these guys, which raises his value.
