Van Cleave flashes potential on both sides of the ball but is further advanced on defense at this point. We can see that when watching his junior highlight video. It led to 30.0 tackles (18 solo, 4.0 TFL), 2.5 sacks last season, a pair of forced fumbles and second-team all-district laurels. Van Cleave succeeds with his hand in the dirt or standing up coming off of the end. He’s a disciplined performer, setting the edge first and then creating a lane to the ball. With a nice mix of pass-rush moves, active hands and strength, Van Cleave’s complete skill set allows him to match up with various forms of offensive linemen. It looks like he boasts the versatility to slide inside and be effective, too.

Gilbert’s Easton Van Cleave Easton Van Cleave 6'0" | 231 lbs | DL/OL Gilbert | 2026 State IA was another Combine Series standout, giving us a glimpse at what to expect next season. Van Cleave will be back in the Tigers’ trenches, ready to follow up on his 30 tackles, four TFLs, and two sacks from last season. Easton is listed as a DL, but looks like he could play a hybrid DE/OLB role where he can apply pressure when firing off the edge. Van Cleave has a solid get-off that allows him to build speed with his rush before using his hands to swat away at blocks and continue his pursuit. He displays nice lateral mobility as he sets the edge and defends the run. Very good motor that keeps him fighting through the whistle. Easton posted an impressive 7.43 L-drill and a 4.66 shuttle drill. Solid prospect to add to your radar!
