Another PRZ Player of the Year finalist who needs to see the recruitment match more of his production level is Drew Kortz Drew Kortz 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Freedom | 2025 State WI . Drew is another two way stud who played a monstrous part in Freedom’s deep postseason run. Kortz finished 2024 with 2,844 passing yards, 774 rushing yards, 41 offensive TDs, 49 tackles, 7 INTs, and a pick six. Drew finished 2024 as the conference offensive player of the year, DB of the year and was All State on both sides of the ball. The senior is also a 21 PPG scorer on the basketball court. No matter where or what sport Drew competes in he produces. Which is why I am so surprised to see he is uncommitted and not reporting an offer. The versatility, athleticism, and playmaking ability need to get him more attention. A WIAC team needs to sweep in and steal this kid.

Drew capped off his HS career with an insane senior season. Look at the team impact numbers. He produced every passing yard and TD. He was responsible for 3/4 of all TDs. 80% of any yards gained came from his efforts. It was very clear that the ball was going to be in his hands and it was up to the defense to try and cover the entire field to slow him down. On top of it, Drew also shined on defense where he was able to fly around the field to make tackles and create turnovers. Freedom went as Drew went this season.

Drew went out swinging in Level 3 of the playoffs. The athletic senior DB/QB/ATH was slinging the ball all over the field, sparking big plays and TDs with his arm. The natural athlete is able to deliver very accurate passes for his targets to easily get to. Drew is even more dangerous with his own legs. He can make DL and LBs miss in the front seven with his quick feet and hips. Drew also has the speed to turn open field into field flipping plays. The senior also has a great sense of what is going on around him and also reads the field very well. That leads to him attacking the defense in the most effective way snap to snap. On defense that speed and football IQ/vision allows him to roam far and wide at safety and he is an effective tackler. Check out his final game highlights.

Drew has the Freedom offense and defense rolling into the playoffs looking dangerous. Freedom has dominated on both sides of the ball on a weekly basis, and leading the way is QB/DB Drew Kurtz. Drew is very poised in the pocket. He keeps his eyes downfield and trusts his legs to buy him time when things break down. The senior has a naturally accurate arm too. When he decides to keep it on the ground the senior is even more dangerous. I believe his best fit at the next level is probably safety because of his athleticism and football IQ. Both of which shine when he runs with the ball on offense too. Big things ahead for Drew and Freedom.

Stats: 456 Yards, 7 TDs, also played safetyrnThe 2025 best fits at safety when it comes to his recruitment, but what a night as a passer for the Freedom junior! Drew carved up the Waupaca defense, hitting receivers at every level of the field. His play has him at #1 in passing yards and TDs after the first week of the season. He didn’t let his dominant night at QB effect his safety play either. Kortz has solid range, and awareness. He did a good job of quickly picking up WRs entering his zone or that he was assigned to in man and staying locked on them through their routes. Drew also did a good job breaking up passes. He made a lot of strong football IQ plays. What a start to the season.
