Expert Analysis
Robert Davis | Prep Redzone Scout
Crowe’s performance was nothing short of dominant. Crowe finished with 6 solo tackles, 4 assisted tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 3 quarterback hurries, and 2 forced fumbles. His ability to get into the backfield and create pressure was relentless, causing the opposing offense fits all game long. Crowe’s presence disrupted the offensive game plan, forcing mistakes and taking control of the line of scrimmage. Even though his team didn’t come out on top, Crowe was a game-changer on defense.

Crowe continued where he left off last year. He racked up a total of 6 tackles (4 solo, 2 assisted), 3 TFL, 2.5 sacks, and 3 QB hurries. Crowe demonstrates very good athletic ability with very good speed, acceleration, and a very good bend around the edge. He has a good initial quickness out of his stance, creating contact with the OL first. He has a low pad level and will use his very good strength to over power the OL with a bull rush. Crowe will continue dominating offenses, so they need to watch out.

Crowe continues to impress as he moves up the ranks landing at #21. The 6’4 225-pound edge rusher made his presence known on the field last season. Throughout the season, he accounted for 101 total tackles (65 solo, 36 assisted) 29.5 TFL, 15 sacks, 7 QB pressures, 2 FF, and 7 pass deflections. Phenomenal. Crowe uses his very good strength to eat up blocks, and run through the offensive line with ease. He has very good athletic ability due to elite acceleration, very good speed, and very good change of direction. He starts out with a low pad level, utilizing good hand placement to bend around the tackle. Good footwork to outmaneuver them too. He switches between a nasty spin move or a powerful bull rush to keep the OL on their toes. He demonstrates good mental processing too. One thing that really impressed me was his ability to diagnose the read option, making the correct read and getting a TFL. I firmly believe that Crowe will keep building upon his stellar junior season, and knock it out of the park in his senior year.

Crowe is the definition of a baller and is a menace on the defensive end. He has a motor and can track down the ball, making plays in the backfield from the other side of formations at times. He is a player with a lot of speed at his size and has an explosive first step, being able to be his opponent with speed or power to get pressure on the QB. He will be a big piece to this group being able to anchor this defense and being able to make a lot of plays behind the line of scrimmage. He will be a player that you will be familiar with at the top of the rankings.

Another edge rusher for the 5A All-State team. Crowe dominated this past year for Denver East. He accounted for 101 total tackles (65 solo, 36 assisted), 29.5 TFL, 15 sacks, 7 QB pressures, 7 pass deflections, 2 FF. Good size for an edge rusher, measuring in at 6’3 220 pounds. Crowe has a very good athletic ability. In part due to very good acceleration/quickness off the LOS, speed, and good change of direction. He has very good mental processing too. An element of his game that really stood out to me was his ability to correctly read the read option and create TFLs. Crowe’s shown good competitive toughness and plays through the whistle. His good strength is evident right when you throw the tape on. Throwing down offensive linemen with ease and would consistently run through them. He uses a low pad level, and shifty feet to beat the OL and get the TFL. Good pass rusher. Good bend around the edge, mixed with a good bull rush/spin move makes him a formidable opponent for the offense. Good at stopping the run and will shed blocks with ease. Deserving to be the 5A All-State team.

Crowe is a well-known prospect and dominant player with elite skills. He has outstanding athleticism and an unstoppable motor, making him one of the best in the state at disrupting offensive backfields. His 15 sacks landed him at the top of the list for the 5A classification and third in the state. Crowe is a top player who should be a high-priority recruit for the top programs in the area.

Crowe had a killer season. He had 101 total tackles (65 solo, 36 assisted) 29.5 TFL and 15 sacks. He’s 6’4″ 225 pounds, but he can move! Crowe’s a game changer on the defensive side. He has good athletic ability due to very good quickness off the line of scrimmage, and good speed. Crowe’s strength is evident. On the tape, he was throwing down blockers with ease and just runs through the offensive line. Looks like a man amongst boys. He has shown good mental processing. A play that stood out to me was how he’d read the read option and get a TFL. Crowe will use a low pad level to out leverage the offensive line. Good bull rush, and good bend around the edge. Excited to see how he does at the showcase to boost his stock even more.

simply has a nose for the football. Not to mention, he is a human wrecking ball at 6’3″, 225-pounds. Right off the bat, Crowe displayed his sheer strength in the two games he has already played. The end result? Racking up 16 total tackles including 5.5 for a loss and 3.5 sacks to boot. Only a junior, the scary thing is that Crowe may get even better as time goes by. This kid will only raise eyebrows before the season concludes.

Crowe is a prospect that will be on a lot of radars early and he will be a player to watch especially in this matchup to see how he is able to control the game upfront. He has the ability to wreck havoc on this game and get pressure on the opposing QB from the first snap of the game. He is technically sound and will be able to use his strength to beat his opponent. With this matchup he will look to continue his momentum from an impressive season from last year.

Last and certainly not least is the ferocious D.J. Crowe out of Denver East High School. A dominant fixture on the defensive line for the Angels, Crowe will be a junior this fall and possesses plenty of raw talent that could serve him well in the future. With big mitts at the line of scrimmage, Crowe often uses his quick hands to bat balls down and has also showcased himself as a tremendous run stopper. Above all else, the most jaw dropping element of the Denver East rising star’s game is his knack to get to the quarterback. In 2022, Crowe was a specialist in racking up the sacks, as he finished the season with 14.5 sacks as a sophomore. Need I say more?
Had a great sophomore season looking to produce and start working now!! @PrepRedzone @Leabre_Mcneal @CoachRuemp https://t.co/8iPmK2zMBh
