Expert Analysis

I’m super excited to see the scholarship floodgates open for Greer. He received his first football scholarship from D2 program West Liberty last week. Greer has the size and playmaking ability that’s necessary to be an effective outside WR on the scholarship level. I also believe Greer would be a good fit for additional MEC programs as well as PSAC schools. In week 0, Greer had an impressive 8 receptions for 146 receiving yards, averaging 18 yards per catch.

For months, almost years, Dereon Greer Dereon Greer 6'1" | ATH Our Lady Of The Sacred Heart | 2024 State PA has clamored for recognition like this. I wasn’t sure he was worthy of it at the time. He proved to be more than worthy of this rank after the Fall he and OLSH put together. 50+ receptions with plenty of mouths to feed, 1,000+ yards, and 12 touchdowns, again, with plenty of mouths to feed in this offense. Like many on this list, Greer will provide quality two-way reps. Yet his playmaking ability will make him the primary focus of opposing defenses next Fall. Testing numbers will be crucial in whether or not Greer can elevate his status to the FBS level. How fast he can run his forty will say a lot in particular.

Dereon’s on a couple of D1 & D2 recruiting boards presently. The 24′ prospect Is capable of making a big play at any time. He tracks the ball well & he’s skilled at Mossing defenders on 50-50 passes. Greer’s strength gives him balance for breaking tackles and fighting for YAC. His vision and power with the ball in hand makes me believe he’s capable of playing RB. He has a wide-ranging catch radius with strong hands. Dereon was OLSH’s top deep threat this past season. His number was consistently called when his team needed a big play downfield. Greer finished the 2022 season averaging almost 20 yds per catch. The 2024 wideout had 50 catches, 1,000 all-purposed yds & 12 touchdowns. Dereon will be dangerous in 2023 with a good off-season.

Greer is on FCS & D2 radars so far & rightfully so. Dereon has a big WR frame with a big catch radius. Greer is OLSH’s biggest deep threat & he’s currently leading the WPIAL statistically. He possesses elite ball skills, regularly catching contested 50/50 passes over DBs. Dereon is a very elusive runner that is skilled at gaining YAC yards. Most of the time if he single covered it is a mismatch in the redzone due to his size. Greer has good speed that will continue to improve as keeps developing. He is very strong with the ball, most of his YAC comes from his strength not quickness.

Nine catches for 200+ yards and three touchdowns goes th e stat line for Dereon Greer Dereon Greer 6'1" | ATH Our Lady Of The Sacred Heart | 2024 State PA on opening night. Shenango had no answer for OLSH’s passing atack. Nehemiah Azeem Nehemiah Azeem 5'9" | 170 lbs | QB Our Lady Of The Sacred Heart | 2023 State PA and Greer connected at all three levels of the field, showing that the two were fully locked in. Greer looks a bit different this year, physically speaking. He looks slightly slimmer and toned up. Greer mixed in toughness and speed after the catch, proving that he isn’t a one dimensional wideout, all the more reason to raise him on our ranks after the season. Greer’s wasted no time flashing his full potential .
