Continue ReadingOur Lady of the Sacred Heart had a successful season last year when they went 8-3. Their season finished when they lost to Clairton in the 1st round of the playoffs. Donnie Militzer a long-time College Football and High School Football coach in the area is the Head Coach of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. It was his 1st season taking over the program last year. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart should be good again this year, as they are bringing back a lot of talent.
Top returning players:
Dereon Greer Dereon Greer 6'1" | ATH Our Lady Sacred Heart | 2024 State PA . Greer is a talented player who plays both wide receiver and defensive back at a high level. Greer should have a good chance to play College Football in the future. Below is what I wrote about Greer earlier this year:
Greer is an elite athlete that can do everything at wide receiver. He can play slot wide receiver as well as outside wide receiver. He can play either very well. In his film I saw him run slant routes and make people miss and break tackles. I saw him run fade routes and high-point the ball. Also what makes him an elite prospect is his size. Standing 6’1″ Greer uses his size well to shield the defenders and to make the play on the ball. Greer also is very good after the catch. He can make anyone miss. Greer film is really good and is an underrated player. He should have a good chance to play CFB very soon and I expect him to get offers after a strong Senior year.
Highlights
Damare’Brough. Brough played center last year. He played the center position at a high level. He does a nice job of snapping the ball and then engaging defensive players while he is blocking. When defensive linemen are slanting in A gap he does a nice job of cutting off their penetration. He shows good athleticism by moving his feet well. This really sticks out in his pass-blocking ability. Brough does a nice job with pass protection by moving his feet and communicating with his other lineman. Brough played at a high level last year and I expect he will play even better this year. I am excited to see how he plays because he can play at the College Football level.
Highlights
Tristan Vojtecky Tristan Vojtecky 6'2" | 275 lbs | OL Our Lady Sacred Heart | 2025 State PA . Vojtecky is a talented offensive lineman. He has the size and strength and plays at a high level. Below is what I wrote about him earlier this year:
Vojtecky played left guard for Our Lady of The Sacred Heart. He has a great size for the position. Standing 6’4″ allows him to be big enough to control a defensive lineman. He is also very strong and can maul defensive linemen with his strength. He has excellent technique and that allows him to use his arms to extend and drive defenders. The other part of his game that is very good is his ability to pull and kick out. He has a knack for hitting a defender and then driving them when he pulls. Vojtecky has all the tools to continue to be a good offensive lineman.
Dorrien Tate Dorrien Tate 6'0" | 160 lbs | ATH Our Lady Sacred Heart | 2024 State PA . Tate is another talented player who can play both wide receiver and defensive back. Below is what my colleague Vic Castillo Vic Castillo RB PA said about Tate earlier this year:
Two-sport athlete, 3.5 GPA, currently unoffered, 6’1, 175-pound wideout/DB at Our Lady of Sacred Heart. The type of athlete that will more than likely wow in pads and on tape over wowing in camp settings. His 7-minute tape will surely have coaches understanding why we like him as a top-150 athlete in his class. Interested in the type of weight he might be putting on. Betting on a future at SWR/X.
Ethan Gardner Ethan Gardner 6'0" | 170 lbs | ATH Our Lady Sacred Heart | 2025 State PA . Below is what I wrote about Garner earlier this year:
Gardner played wide receiver and cornerback for Our Lady of The Sacred Heart. Gardner at wide receiver made some of the best catches I saw all year. Several times in tight coverage he made tough acrobatic catches. He is very good in those 50/50 balls and makes big plays in the passing game. Gardner is also very good at catching the ball in traffic. He runs good routes and can take any catch to the end zone at any time. On defense, Gardner plays very well at cornerback. He has good coverage skills and the ability to make plays on defense. Garner projects as a College Football player in the future.
Iseia Schulz Iseia Schulz 6'1" | 205 lbs | DL Our Lady Sacred Heart | 2025 PA . Schulz is a talented defensive lineman who showed a lot of promise last year. Below is what I wrote about him earlier this year:
Schulz is a good prospect who played defensive end for Our Lady of The Sacred Heart. He is a very good athlete that makes a ton of plays all over the field. At the defensive end, he does a good job at setting the edge. When there is a play run to his side Schulz holds his own and either makes the play or forces the ball carrier inside. One time in his film a team ran a reverse to his side and Schulz stayed home and made the tackle. Schulz is also very good at attacking off the edge and creating havoc. He had 10 sacks this past season, many of them by chasing down and making difficult plays on the quarterback. Schulz also has a motor that never quits. He is constantly chasing down plays downfield. Schulz has a ton of talent and should only get better.
Cam Branch Cam Branch 5'11" | 255 lbs | DL Our Lady Sacred Heart | 2024 State PA . Branch played defensive line last year. He is an impressive player who shows good athleticism and skill at the defensive line. He gets off the ball well and uses his athleticism to cause problems for an offense. He is difficult to block one-on-one. He uses his hands well to disrupt offensive lineman blocking him. When he gets into the backfield be shows his athleticism by chasing plays all over the field. Branch has a motor that never stops and it is impressive to watch. Branch should only improve going into his Senior year.
Highlights
Van Kavals. Kavals had limited film from last year, but played outside linebacker and quarterback on Junior Varsity. He has good size standing 6’5″ inches tall. Kavals shows he is a good athlete that can play on offense or defense. He should have a chance to start at either side of the ball, especially at quarterback. I expect him to be a bigger contributor this year.
Brandon Brazell
Brandon Brazell
Brandon Brazell. Brazell played running back and linebacker last year. At linebacker is where most of his playing time occurred and he is a difference maker at inside linebacker. He does a great job reading and reacting to the play and then filling that hole. He can diagram a play quickly and then come upfield to make that play quickly. He rarely gets fooled. He is also good at pass coverage and can knock a player who is going over the middle to catch the ball. Brazell also is a good blitzer that does a nice job attacking an offense. Finally, Brazell is a good tackler in the open field. At running back Brazell shows good skills and hits the hole well. He even played the slot some and caught the ball well from that position. Brazell is a good player that I expect should get some College Football offers.
Final Thoughts: Out Lady of the Sacred Heart should once again be one of the best Single-A Football teams in the WPIAL. They have a great group of skilled kids that will play on both sides of the ball. They have several linemen that can play at a high level. It would not surprise me if Our Lady of the Sacred Heart makes a long playoff run this year.
