is an excellent player who plays as a quarterback and as a defensive end for Our Lady Of The Sacred Heart. He is committed to Akron to play football. At defensive end he does a great job of playing on the edge. He is so athletic and big that he is so disruptive. He also does an excellent job of chasing plays all over the field. He shows good pass-rushing ability. At quarterback, he is a dynamic player who is a good runner and can also throw the ball well in the pocket. Kavals is a talented player and Akron is getting a good player.

Van Kaval’s film is a mixture of Varsity and Junior Varsity, but he flashed good skills at the quarterback position. He has good mechanics in the pocket and does a good job of setting his feet to throw the ball. He does well on seam routes and other in-breaking routes. Kavals is also good at throwing on the run. Especially designed pass plays where he ran sprint out and set his feet to throw the ball. Kavals should be the starter next year and I expect him to play well next year.

Vann is an athlete and leader in general for his team. His size and agility are notable assets at 6’5, 230 lbs. He’s a competitor that legitimately shows promise at DE and QB. He’s physical off of the edge and uses his hands well overall. He’s a disciplined defensive player that has the height to get into throwing lanes and bat passes down. He’s capable of creating pressure off the edge and gives a consistent good effort. Offensively, he has a strong enough arm to go downfield on deep passes. He throws with good anticipation and timing on RPO passes. He has good ball placement and accuracy completing passes on the run. His toughness and agility are also assets when running the zone read.

for what seems like years now. Kavals has sat on our Watchlist, waiting in the backdrop for his opportunity to shine as the lead man in the OLSH huddle. That moment came and this young man made the opportunity count. 6’5, 230, 380 yards through the air, more on the ground, a whopping five touchdowns to his name. First score came after Kavals was asked to roll out, move his launch point and hit a corner route downfield. No coverage, yet Kavals was able to show some touch and deliver an easy ball for a score. Kavals was able to power in a QB keeper at the goal line for a score, that’ll be in the playbook each week considering this kid’s size. Kavals proceeded to hit slants for more scores, showing off his quick release, a release that doesn’t have the ball sitting too low when stretching. All of this and I have yet to mention his four sacks on defense. Was often left unblocked off the snap, left open for a would-be puller to clean up. Kavals was too quick and too strong for any of the opponents IOL to pick up, especially when he was working free off the ball. Kavals will debut high on our ranks next update.
