Expert Analysis
Eric Bergman | Prep Redzone Scout
Deandre Coates showcased a breakout performance during his junior season as a wide receiver for Lincoln-Way West. His explosive playmaking abilities have the potential to turn the tide of a game, making him a valuable asset on the field. Coates exhibits excellent footwork, allowing him to navigate through defenses with ease and agility. His skill in getting in and out of breaks adds another dimension to his game. I anticipate a standout camp season for Coates this summer, drawing significant interest from college recruiters.

. The WR carved up defenses with smooth route running and slippery running after the catch. Coates’ body control and balance are so strong that it looks effortless while he runs through his routes. That opens up separation for his QB to target. Coates also has excellent hands to make the difficult catches look easy. This is another rising athlete among the Class of 2025.

was a standout performer at our recent PrepRedzoneIL spring showcase and has been busy this offseason with spring visits to Western Michigan (spring game), Iowa State (spring practice), and Northwestern for their summer prospect camp. The sophomore highlights display a three-phase contributor with solid speed, a strong lower body and good hands that help him reel in throws behind him or far out front, and a nasty stiff arm he used to toss would-be tacklers aside like tiny children. Defensively, he reads and steps in front of throws well and lays some big sticks at the contact point, and his size, strength, and ability to impact multiple phases in the game at the non-varsity level effectively all lead to him making the jump to varsity next season. PRzIL can’t wait to see how it goes!
