Class of 2028 Lawrence North quarterback Darian Prather is on the verge of a breakout season, and college coaches are already taking note of his talents. The rising junior and dual-threat quarterback who can make plays both through the air and with his legs picked up an offer from Ohio earlier in the month, and most-recently, Miami University (Ohio). Prather is a big-time returning starter in 6A ball, and if Lawrence North is to reach a state championship, the multi-sport athlete (he also plays basketball and runs track) will be a big reason why.

Prather’s talent translates clearly in person, and once he finds a rhythm he becomes difficult to contain. He shows consistent touch on downfield throws, layering the ball with accuracy and giving receivers opportunities to make plays without breaking stride. There’s a natural feel and confidence in his game when he gets comfortable, allowing him to string together completions and control tempo. The arm talent, combined with his ability to settle in and elevate his play, makes it easy to see why his recruitment continues to gain traction and why he’s a quarterback worth tracking closely moving forward.

We should be at Lawrence North on Monday night, and Prather could be the prospect I’m looking forward to seeing the most. The 6-foot-0, 175-pound quarterback has something to prove in 2026. We know he’s a dynamic dual-threat, but does he have the arm to get the job done at a Power 4 level? I saw him at a basketball game and he definitely has the speed and juice with his legs. He threw for 1,600 yards and rushed for 740 yards, with 23 total touchdowns, last fall, and has earned offers from Toledo and Ohio.

Prather is an exciting dual-threat QB who has the arm and legs to get the job done. He’s also fairly accurate and can throw with some touch. He’s aware in the pocket and gets out of trouble when things break down around him. He has the Lawrence North staff beaming with excitement, and Toledo has recently jumped in, becoming the first school to offer him.

is emerging as one of the state’s top prospects in the Class of 2028. The quarterback for Lawrence North High School can scoot: he is a game breaker with great top-end speed if he finds a crease. He is primarily a runner and excels within his role. He is a solid, accurate passer as well. He finished the season with 1,600 yards through the air and 740 yards on the ground. Holds an early offer from Toledo.

Prather has taken the step you’d hope he would this fall. He’s been fantastic just about every week. He looks good, can make all the throws, and then is a good athlete who can stretch the defense with his legs. He threw for 251 yards and 3 TDs and then added 165 yards and another TD on the ground. It’s been a good year for Prather, and he seems to be taking the next step.

has proven he can get the job done and is becoming a great 2028 prospect. Despite the loss, he was 22-39 for 221 passing yards and three passing touchdowns, and added 15 carries for 106 rushing yards on the ground. Prather is very good at eluding rushers, gathering his feet, and pulling the trigger on the move.

Prather has all the raw tools you look for in a quarterback. He’s long, athletic, and already built like a prospect with a frame that can keep filling out. His quick release and ability to drop in a deep ball with touch are big strengths, and he’s only scratching the surface. The multi-sport background shows in how fluid he is with his mechanics and movement, and the upside is obvious. He’s a name schools are already starting to circle for good reason.

Prather is a phenomenal athlete who will quickly make his name known through the ranks. He’s a multi-sport Varsity athlete as a freshman, and he looks good. His frame is nice, and he’s not thin. You can tell he’s been in the weight room for years, and he’s been working. He only completed 1 pass in Varsity last year, but it’s the potential and talent with Prather that is obvious and has schools excited. He’s twitchy, can jump out of the gym, and looks like a stallion in the backfield at QB. I’m excited to see him step into the starter job next fall to see what he can do.

Dynamic dual-threat quarterback who can make things happen with his legs. Displays good touch on the deep ball with good accuracy. Is a legitimate threat to go the distance with good top-end speed. Could be a college receiver with his height.
