The son of former Iowa and NFL tight end Dallas Clark, Dane popped on my radar last year when the Hawkeyes invited him to attend a game as a recruit despite modest statistics as a Humboldt sophomore in 2025. Things have taken off a bit from there. South Dakota State, Northern Iowa and Southern Illinois have reportedly offered scholarships. He’ll be at Iowa for a game again next month, and Iowa State, Nebraska, Minnesota, South Dakota and others have invited him to games. Like his father, Clark possesses an attractive mix of size and athleticism to impact games as a tight end. The frame is projectable, capable of adding good weight while holding agility and speed. It’s a package of traits that also work well on defense. Expect a breakout prep season from Clark, the No. 3 tight end in the latest Prep Redzone Iowa 2028 rankings.

Clark boasts the strength to both out-lever blockers around the Edge and keep Edge-rushers at bay while blocking both the run and the pass, while also boasting solid route-running skills and strong hands to extend his abilities as a pass-catching TE. Clark has already garnered serious attention, with D1 offers from South Dakota State, Northern Iowa, and Southern Illinois, and he’s bound to receive plenty more over the coming 2 seasons.

Clark grabbed just five receptions for 80 yards this fall, but he’s impressed on the camp circuit big time. A physical specimen at At 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, Clark shows enough with his tools to be worthy of a Division I offer. Looking like a prospect that can run routes on the outside, plus put on some weight an in-line block, Clark may be a Power 4 prospect before we know it.

There’s a limited amount of video evidence of Clark’s talents on his Hudl page. That’s a result of smaller statistical contributions while getting his feet wet as a sophomore on the Humboldt varsity during the 2025 campaign. He caught five passes for 80 yards (16.0 YPR) and three of his 5.0 tackles were solo stops. What he flashed as a ninth-grader landed him a game-day invitation from the Iowa Hawkeyes. It also probably helped that he’s the son of program great, Dallas Clark. The bloodlines are strong, and the young Clark looks the part during the few clips publicly available. One one, he blocks effectively and releases for a 13-yard reception. There are also basketball highlights of him showing athleticism and agility, along with speed. His frame is such that it can comfortably add good weight, which helps make him a prospect on which to keep an eye next fall. A breakout would not be a surprise, at all.
