Groat was a force on defense during the 2025 campaign. The junior piled up 45.0 tackles, 27 of which were solo stops. He accounted for four tackles for loss and a sack. Groat forced a fumble and recovered a fumble. His 11th-grade highlight video shows viewers how he gets the job done as a defensive presence. Groat diagnoses the offense’s intentions prior to the snap, reacts quickly when the play gets underway and flies to the football. He flows well to the football and operates within the scheme, keeping the ball in front of him and pouncing on the ball carrier when the opportunity presents itself. He’s a good athlete with speed, allowing him to stick with pass catchers in coverage. Groat lists running back as his second position, and his talents would work at that spot. A college program also can count on him to contribute on special teams.
