Cherry put together an impressive sophomore season and showed the ability to hold up outside on an island. He has good man coverage skills and also looks comfortable working in zone, where he does a nice job reading the quarterback’s eyes. He trusts his instincts and isn’t afraid to jump shorter routes when he sees an opportunity. He added a nice pick-six this year and consistently showed playmaking ability in the secondary. I think he’s one of the more interesting rising DBs in the group and a guy who could keep trending up with more experience.

Cherry is coming off a strong year two, where he contributed on both sides of the ball. He’s a good athlete with solid instincts and vision, and he trusts what he sees, allowing him to play fast. On offense, he totaled 513 yards and 6 TDs on the ground while adding 22 catches for 211 yards and 1 TD through the air. Defensively, he finished with 41 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 2 PBUs, showing his playmaking ability on that side as well. I like the versatility and instincts, and he’s a player who impacts the game in multiple ways.
