Curtis has built a powerhouse of a frame. He already has the size to be ready for the next level and while getting to that point he hasn’t had to carry much if any excess weight. The frame is loaded up with muscle that was bullying DL. Curtis has a ton Friday night experience run blocking and that was apparent in board drills. The Appleton North product can get his pads low, keep a wide base, get hands inside, and stomp his feet into the ground while bulldozing DL backwards. The big man also showed some good feet that aided him in locking down IDL in pass pro and his natural ability to set a strong anchor was key to his success on the day. This is another 2027 OL here in WI who is going to be an absolute steal.

A word that came to mind after a lot of Curtis’ reps was “unfair”. The 6’3″ 285 lbs 2027 had one of, if not the best, frames in attendance. Big, and extremely filled out with violent power. That power is what shined rep after rep after rep. The board drills/run game battles were his best moments. That is where Curtis showed how quick he could fire out and get the proper hand placement. From there it was a wrap as he not only controlled with his hands, but bulldozed DL off the ball with his lower body strength. While showing that power the big man also had several reps where we got to see that he can be quick on his feet, especially while engaged. This is one of the big winners of the day among the OL. Definitely a top talent at the position in 2027 among uncommitted athletes.

Leopold made his mark once the pads came on, showcasing power, control and consistency in gap-run reps. His solid frame and positional flexibility were evident, and he delivered a powerful first strike that often push defenders back. Leopold is a junior from Appleton North and has the foundation to develop into an upfront anchor. Leoplod was impressive, leading several drills once camp broke into subgroups with his respective class.

Another Appleton North OL standout was ’27 Curtis Leopold Curtis Leopold 6'3" | 285 lbs | OL Appleton North | 2027 State WI . The 6’4″ 285 lbs junior is a punishing athlete at the guard position. He is a heavy-handed OL that can deliver a firm punch and once he clamps on with those big hands Curtis proved he could control and throw DL around the field. His quickness out of his stance quickly turns into power, and his power is even more emphasized with the way he can bend at the knees to drop his pad level and get underneath opponents. Curtis was another kid from this group that took to coaching tips well and was able to put them into action in his reps.
