The Whitewater Mega Camp turned into an impromptu Big Man camp thanks to some wild weather, but the big fellas brought out plenty of talent for us to talk about here on Prep Redzone WI. The talented crop of OL and DL only boosted the competitive fever that ran through the group, leading to some outstanding 1v1s in pass pro and board drills. The pads were definitely popping, offers were earned, and dudes were making names for themselves. The camp was separated by 2027s in purple Warhawk jerseys and the underclassmen in white. Let's dive into the best of the 2027s from the day, sporting those purple jerseys.

I have crossed paths with Joel a couple times this summer on the camp circuit, but it was at the Whitewater camp that I was able to focus on him for several reps and get a good, long look at him. What we saw on tape from last season is showing up better than ever this summer. Joel is a force in the offensive trenches. He has the size to be a legitimate option on the interior and the power necessary also. His anchor shined as he absorbed the bull rushes of DLs. He also showed in drills that he could also absorb defenders coming from depth. The big man also does a great job of being a powerful mass move in the run game. The lower body shines in those scenarios and the upper body strength controls the man so well and allows him to churn his feet straight through the man. Joel is going to be a steal in the trenches.

Curtis has built a powerhouse of a frame. He already has the size to be ready for the next level and while getting to that point he hasn't had to carry much if any excess weight. The frame is loaded up with muscle that was bullying DL. Curtis has a ton Friday night experience run blocking and that was apparent in board drills. The Appleton North product can get his pads low, keep a wide base, get hands inside, and stomp his feet into the ground while bulldozing DL backwards. The big man also showed some good feet that aided him in locking down IDL in pass pro and his natural ability to set a strong anchor was key to his success on the day. This is another 2027 OL here in WI who is going to be an absolute steal.

Coming up from Illinois, Toluwani definitely made a name for himself and made the trip well worth it. The long and lean edge rusher was electric coming off the line. He is shot out of a cannon with his get off and acceleration. Ajayi has elite speed for the position to rush the edge. Plus his ability to dip and bend and his flexibility overall makes it so he can get underneath OTs on his rush path. The outstanding athlete also flashed the body control to change his rush path and cut on a dime without sacrificing speed. I loved his relentless motor during reps too. He attacks at 100 mph every single rep. I'm confident Ajayi could come in and make an impact as a pass rusher early on in his college career.

I liked what I saw from the Madison La Follette IOL at the Whitewater camp. The 2027 is a stout OL who will be able to continue to build out his frame at the next level. When the pads went on I loved to see the force he was able to create and the mentality he attacks with. Brodie has the power in his frame so that when he gets rolling on the path he needs to take he can drive DL with him. Even in pass pro we saw him easily run DL past the QB. The big man capitalized on his chances to finish blocks too. The 2027 IOL is definitely an athlete that the D3 level should be tuned in on.

We have covered Jaxon's growth and development for years now, and I can confidently say he is looking better than ever. He has grown into a frame that now truly looks the part, yet he still has done a great job leaning on his technique to whoop DL. I loved his pass pro reps from the day. They perfectly showcased his growth. The technique was always razor sharp, his feet are quick, and his frame now has the power necessary to overwhelm a DL or set a stout anchor that could stand a DL straight up like they ran into a brick wall. It was impressive to see how he could flip from rep to rep winning with his power and/or his athleticism depending on how the DL attacked. This is definitely an IOL that needs more eyes on him and his tape.

If you're looking for a DE who can create a mismatch on the edge then [player_tooltip player_id='1570788' first='Micah' last='Welch'] is someone you should be looking into. He checked a lot of boxes in my first look at the IL product. Micah has an explosive first step to make OTs nervous about him getting the edge. The speed he can get up to in just a few strides should also have them scared. The balance to be able to counter or rip back inside also stood out from the crowd. It was very noteworthy how Micah could win one rep with speed then the next win with power. The 2027 DE has the upper body strength to manhandle OTs and get them off balance. Once he accomplishes that then he can easily beat the block and get into the backfield. The variety of paths to success for the DE should earn him a lot of next level attention.

Sam put together a really good day. He is a long and strong edge rusher out of Waunakee. HIs best moments came during the 1v1 battles the back end of camp. Sam really hit his stride as the battles went on. He flies off the line of scrimmage. Has the balance and body control to stay low to the ground while attacking the edge. I loved the way he used his length and power to maintain separation while running the loop to the QB. The way every rep was explosive and backed up by his power in e very step showed that he is built for the next level. I've seen Sam a couple times this summer and his Whitewater performance was the best I had seen from him.

Colt is a massive OL prospect. He was one of the biggest linemen at the entire camp and it was well utilized when the pads went on. Colt's used that size and length to force DL to have to take a long path to the QB. That huge frame is able to naturally create a big surge of power and momentum to win board drills battles. Plus I was pleasantly surprised to see that he plays on a solid set of feet that can get the small school OL to move around effectively. Definitely keep an eye on this kid as he heads into his senior season.
