Davenport Central reached the playoffs in a full-season for first time since 2015 this past year. Shorter was integral in the team’s success. Fifteen of his 17.5 tackles were solo stops. Shorter also delivered four interceptions, six passes defended, 3.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble. The junior highlight video contains a flexible cornerback capable of locking up in coverage. He’s effective in press or dropping back in man or zone. It’s a smooth backpedal and change of direction. Shorter supports the run well and can be a special team’s asset with his skill set.
