Expert Analysis
Rob Howe | Prep Redzone Scout
McKinney ranked fourth on Davenport North in carries last season, when he worked behind three upperclassmen, including a pair of seniors. What the sophomore did when given opportunities should lead to a larger share of the workload in 2026. He rushed 34 times for 249 yards (7.3 YPC) and a touchdown, and added a score through the air. Mckinney averaged 26.2 yards on five kick returns. He posted clips from individual games on his Hudl page, providing evidence as to how he finds success between the lines. As a back, Mckinney has a good feel for running the ball, using patience and vision to pick his way through the defense. There’s burst and another gear in the open field along with power to push through tackle attempts. He looks comfortable catching passes and has the frame to be an effective blocker. Mckinney is very dangerous in the return game, making quick decisions and getting to top speed in a hurry. He feels like a guy that could break out in a big way this coming campaign.
