Expert Analysis
Jonathan Davalos | Prep Redzone Scout
Already established as one of the best athletes at the entire camp, Chiel leads the DBs conversation as the best of the bunch. With the frame and movement skills of a receiver, the Georgia native immediately caught my attention with how fluid and effortless he looked in coverage. Throughout the event, he consistently blanketed receivers and rarely allowed separation at any point in the route. His transitions were smooth, his reactions were instinctive, and his ability to mirror routes made life extremely difficult for anyone lined up across from him. Rep after rep, Chiel competed at a high level and set the standard for athletes in NY to follow.

When Chiel first stepped onto the field, you would have thought he was a wide receiver based on his dimensions and how effortlessly he moved. Traveling up from Georgia, he immediately made an impression on scouts and coaches. Simply put, he moved differently than everyone else in attendance. In my eyes, he was the best defender at the event by a wide margin, consistently shutting down opposing receivers throughout the day. No receiver was able to shake him off their route, as he stayed glued to the hip in coverage and competed at an elite level during every rep. Whether it was Chiel’s footwork, instincts, or ability to mirror routes, he looked dominant from start to finish.
