Over the past few weeks, we have started to see this Memphis area prospect emerge on the recruiting scene by landing offers from the likes of Memphis, Ole Miss and others but they won’t be the last as this is only the beginning. Standing 6 ‘3 180 plus pounds, Young has the physical tools and traits desired by collegiate coaches and he is still growing into a body that can certainly add more weight, overall size. The Saints junior is an athletic defender with range and solid ball skills that will only improve further with more experience. Young also displays good instincts for someone that is still learning how to play the safety role. There are occasions this year where the Saints staff uses Young at cover corner, which speaks towards his athleticism and versatility. There is simply a lot to like about the Saints defender and his future on the collegiate playing stage. I fully expect his recruiting and overall stock to take off in a big way over the next few months, establishing Young as one of the top defensive prospects from the TN2028 class.
The Saints had their biggest test of the season and they passed with flying colors in their 38-30 win over Southwind. The Briarcrest defense gave up a few scores late but overall was strong, led by this junior safety that proved to be a difference maker on the back end of the Saints secondary. Young has emerged over the past few weeks and begun to show next level abilities, which flashed big against the Jaguars with 7 tackles, 3 passes defended and 2 interceptions. Sporting great length and size, Young has started to see his recruitment take off by landing recent offers from Memphis and Ole Miss. I expect others to follow suit, especially if the Saints junior continues to develop and play at a high level.
