Chapa is arguably one of the better defensive backs in the region. He is a ball-hawking athlete who possesses the ability to make a difference every time he steps onto the field. His technique and physical skill make him a dangerous defender who can dissect what the offense wants to do and make a play. He is a fierce competitor who initiates ball-jarring contact and plays to the whistle on every snap. Chapa is also a dangerous return man on special teams, helping him land offers from Northern Colorado, Lindenwood, CSU-Pueblo, Emporia State, and Fort Lewis.

Enough of these linebackers! It’s time to take a look at some ballhawking secondary members who are doing their fare share of dominating! Already a two-time All-Conference player at the free safety position, Mr. Cam Chapa Cam Chapa 6'0" | DB Eaglecrest | 2024 State CO is as good as it gets. Reigning from Eaglecrest High School, Chapa has incredible ball skills and possesses an impressive ability to pin-point the football and make a play more often than not defensively. Standing at 6’0 combined with long arms, throwing over the top of Chapa proves to be a tough task time and time again. Did I mention he also plays both ways?

With Chapa’s skill set he is on of the top players in the state for this coming season and I feel he was last season as well. He is a player that is able to drive out of his back peddle and make a play on the ball, taking it the opposite direction at times. He was leading the state in interception for awhile and when you watch the tape you can see why. He is great at tackling in the open field and can rip the ball away from ball carriers as well. He has an aggressive playing style but has the vision to not get suckered into double moves or trick plays. Will be a player on a lot of college coaches radars this season.

Chapa had a breakout junior season, showcasing talents that are clearly suitable for the Division I level. He is a ball-hawking free safety with the instincts and technical skills to be in the right place at the right time. His speed and physicality enable him to make plays on the ball and disrupt the receiver’s ability to make the catch or intercept the pass. Chapa has taken over the spotlight and turned heads as a trending prospect with an insanely high ceiling.

Chapa is one of the better coverage safeties in the state and should be on the radar of every D1 program that scouts Colorado, especially CU. He does a fantastic job at understanding and properly using his leverage, angles, and athleticism to finish disrupt plays with interceptions, pass breakups, or physical tackles. Chapa has superb techniques that allow him to flow in coverage and make plays all over the field, which earned him an offer from Lindenwood and makes him a must-get for in-state schools.
