Expert Analysis
Zack Reyes | Prep Redzone Scout
Reese added three D-I offers this month from UC Davis, Sacramento St., and Northern Arizona. He’s one of the top DB prospects in San Diego with a high-level combination of size (6’/190), length, and ball skills. He’s a savvy zone defender that can bait QBs and jump perimeter routes with pure instincts and awareness. He shows his athleticism with the ball in his hands on offense/special teams and is a sure tackler on the perimeter. Reese- now at San Marcos- also holds offers from Idaho St., Fordham, Cal Poly, Cornell, Air Force, Montana St., and Yale.

Reese is one of the top two-way playmakers across all of San Diego, and can make an impact on the game in all three phases. He is a big and physical corner that can press and shows violent hands near the LOS, while flashing natural hips in transition and does a nice job at quickly diagnosing routes and plays after the snap. He also shows he can quickly get off blocks before triggering into the flats, and does a good job at using his length to make plays on the ball when trailing, with plus closing speed at the POA. A natural athlete with fantastic ball skills/high point abilities, he also shows return tools as well and is a big time playmaker with the ball in his hands on both sides of the ball. Reese is a kid that could enter into our ranks in the next update, and is a no brainer next level kid after his prep career comes to a close.

Reese’s stock has raised significantly in 2024 with his first set of D-I offers coming in from Yale, Montana St., Air Force, Cornell, and Cal Poly. He’s a versatile talent that made plays in all three phases for El Camino last season (6 TDs on offense, 3 INTs on defense). He’s a skilled, instinctive CB that can play physical in press-man coverage and uses his eyes effectively in soft coverage. He shows plus-side ball skills on both sides of the ball and can produce explosive plays with the ball in his hands. Reese transferred to San Marcos this offseason where he figures to be an impactful player on both sides of the ball next season.

Reese accounted for 2 of the team’s 4 INTs and caught a TD in El Camino’s 28-21 quarterfinal win over Cathedral Catholic. He’s a lockdown perimeter CB with great coverage instincts, natural athleticism and WR-quality ball skills. He’s versatile in his usage with ability to play physical press-man and soft zone over the top. Reese is establishing himself as one of the top CBs in San Diego’s 2025 class. #3-El Camino will need continued playmaking in the secondary from Reese when they face one of San Diego’s top QBs (
