I know he is young but I continue to be impressed with Grindle’s work at quarterback, I think he is going to have a big sophomore year. He was poised all morning and he showed off his his accuracy on numerous td passes. While the Hawks are a run first team typically, they have some fire power on the outside and Grindle’s athleticism cannot be ignore. I could see him doing a lot of damage with his legs this fall, he can move.

My colleague Carl recently covered Brently in his Skyline Hawks Season Preview article that I will include below. He stands at 5’9″, with long lean frame. If he grows and adds mass, he will have good size for the QB position. His arm is solid, and he is one we expect to develop well as he competes for the varsity starting job this fall.

The biggest key to Skyline keeping the momentum they had from last year will be the development of quarterback Brently Grindle Brently Grindle 5'9" | 142 lbs | QB Skyline | 2029 State VA . The sophomore is expected to take over starting duty reigns and has looked the part so far this off-season. He tested very well at our Spring showcase, running a 4.92 40 and a good shuttle run. He seems committed to getting better and Coach Gilbert has attested to his work ethic. Facing a dangerous Strasburg squad week 1 is no small task, it seems that this young man is up for any challenge.

Brently shows an accurate pass with good accuracy in short-to-intermediate routes. Doesn’t possess a strong arm yet, but that will come as he develops and shows that in a few deep balls on tape. Has the athleticism to maneuver the pocket and set up his throws.
