At one point in time, Heyward was viewed as one of the top wideouts in the state but here he is late in the process available for the taking. The Wildcats senior pass catcher is a dynamic playmaker that held several strong offers but those options may be off the table at the moment, leaving Hayward looking for a college home. Whoever lands this East Tennessee talent could be getting a late bloomer as Heyward needs to fill out his body much further and continue maturing his game but the upside is definitely there to become a big time playmaker on the collegiate level. Heyward’s biggest play was a long touchdown where he showcased great explosiveness and downfield tracking ability. He also gave a high effort blocking.

He runs good route with a nice understanding of angles and leverage with efficient movement skills to get open. Good versatility to play inside and outside and will sink his hips on comebacks to create separation with no wasted movements.

He excels on a vertical plane with a good understanding of how to stack DB’s. Good pace variation, he lulls DB’s to sleep the accelerates right by them with ease. Great adjustments at the catch point, Heyward is excellent in air with great fluidity and body control. He is good at selling double moves with good nuance in the route stem. Overall, he is competitive after the catch and shows good physicality when blocking.

Coming in ranked as the 4th best current receiver in the #TN2024 class, Heyward has been a highly recruited prospect for almost two years now with multiple Power Five schools hot on his trail and many others in pursuit. His stock has been high for some time due to his natural athletic abilities and knack for making the big play look easy. The Wildcats senior wideout has more development to go but his athletic skills and traits will allow him to compete early in college for a role as a true freshman.
