Class 6A Pre-season Mr. Football Candidates
Transferring from Carter to Oak Ridge in the off-season, Sparks is an East Tennessee product that could be...
He consistently shows impressive anticipation and fits throws into tight windows when working to the sideline, in the red zone and downfield.
His timing and accuracy makes him effective over the middle of the field and that will only continue to get better with college level coaching. He could use some time to tighten his mechanics before playing at a level in which the game is played faster, but the arm talent to make throws in the intermediate is evident.
His touch and anticipation translates to every level of the field and he constantly throws his receivers open, even with several defenders in the area.
He is not a great athlete, but he can convert short yardage situations and is able to effectively hit throws in rollout situations.
Overall, Sparks is a quarterback with intriguing size, arm talent and anticipation that could translate to the next level with good coaching.
Transferring from Carter to Oak Ridge in the off-season, Sparks is an East Tennessee product that could be ready for a breakout season that not only gets his Wildcats team in conversation for 6A state champs but also places him in the mix for Mr. Football. I don’t know how many preseason Mr. Football lists Sparks will be on but us here at PRZTN thinks he could develop into a top contender due to his progression but also the talent surrounding him. Sparks is a true pocket passer that has increased his arm power and zip through the off-season while building rapport with his new receivers. Looking at things on paper, I’m expecting a very productive season from Sparks that could very well get him named as a semifinalist for Mr. Football.
