A Tier 1 Linebacker in the New Jersey 2030 class, via Prep Redzone Next as of August 2026.

Excelled as both an Edge and Linebacker during his pre-high school career, playing with Cranford. In 2025 he was named Defensive MVP in the NJSYFL All-Star Game. Over the last 1.5 – 2 years he has made the transition to exclusively playing Linebacker. His speed and quickness has picked up substantially and he still has that hardhat mentality. Also a stud lacrosse player.

As noted in this article about 2030 prospects headed to Delbarton, Cranford’s Benjamin Coccaro Benjamin Coccaro 6'0" | 190 lbs | LB/TE Delbarton | 2030 NJ is one of the top players in all of New Jersey, in my eyes. Somewhere between an Edge rusher and a Linebacker, he knows how to be disruptive behind the line of scrimmage. In the final youth game of his career, Coccaro earned Defensive MVP honors in the North Jersey Suburban Youth Football League All-Star Game. An impressive feat, which is only made more impressive by the fact that he started on the Offensive Line in that game — not defensive. Though, I think it’s very clear that he’ll be standing out on the defensive side of the ball (at some position) for the Green Wave.

It’s still relatively early in the admissions process when looking ahead to next year, but when looking at the crop of prospect Delbarton is bringing in on paper, I see Coccaro as the cornerstone of this 2030 class. The Cranford native checks all the boxes on, and off, the field when it comes to being a student-athlete. Violent between the whistles and a great person off the field. In the NJSYFL All-Star Game this past year, Coccaro earned Defensive MVP honors for this play. Also a talented lacrosse player, the 21-time Morris County Champion Green Wave are getting a stellar all-around athlete.
