of Robbinsdale Cooper and based off what I saw, I can see why he was in the “offer'” conversation. I have scouted Beckham a handful since he was a freshmen and the position flexibility has been something that has stuck out, but what I saw on Saturday is a quarterback that I thought had some of the more smooth mechanics amongst this 2027 group in attendance. Great three level arm strength and something I will echo from what they saw at the 612Qs Elite Academy, is the word smooth, as that describes what I saw from Beckham in just about every rep. If I was a recruiter, he would have an offer from me from what I saw on Saturday.

is simultaneously one of the more interesting as well as well-known 2027 on the PRZMN Ranking’s Big Board. A rising four-year starter who started his career at Minneapolis South – where he played QB as well as SAF – Vanvoorst transferred to Cooper before his sophomore season, taking over the role of the Hawks‘ QB1 as an underclassman, although unfortunately missing a handful of games due to injury but still finishing with a near 60% completion percentage, nearly 1,000 yards through the air, and 12 TDs to only 3 INTs. However, as a junior, Cooper went a disappointing 3-7, and Vanvoorst only managed 84 completions on 155 attempts (54%) for 1,235 yards and 11 TDs to 8 INTs with less than 100 yards rushing. It’s still hard for me not to think about Vanvoorst’s safety days back with South, and it’s difficult to continue gauging him as a pocket-passing-only QB serving him best at the next level. That being said, Vanvoorst looked good in front of nearly double-digit college programs at the 612Q’s Offensive Skills Camp. Thicker physically, with broad shoulders and a strong overall frame on him, Vanvoorst was flicking the ball around with noticeable ease, a quick, compact release thanks to his work with Quinn Frisell and 612Qs, and accuracy from the reps I saw. Additionally, his work in the weight room has added to his overall arm strength, and

was hearing some noteworthy buzz about Vanvoorst from a couple notable programs in attendance, although there were rumors a hypothetical offer could come as an “ATH” as opposed to “QB” only. Definitely a fun storyline and narrative to follow out of the 2027 QB class in Minnesota.

also is the starting QB for the Hawks’ offense and he’s been proving to be quite a promising gunslinger. Vanvoorst threw for 1235 yards, 11 TDs, and 8 INTs while adding 5 rushing TDs. His athleticism is something to behold, with an impressive 365 lb max squat and a 405 lb max deadlift, Vanvoorst’s strength and toughness stands out among this QB group. Vanvoorst’s strength is prevalent watching him throw the ball, with effortless touch and great placement, Vanvoorst is a fearless passer who isn’t afraid to take advantage of open seams and deep windows that are difficult to hit. The potential is promising, and if Vanvoorst can fine tune his mechanics as he enters his senior season, he should solidify his stance as a priority recruiting target next offseason.

I have to give Van Voorst a lot of credit, because I don’t know if he ever left the field Friday night. He was QB1, a starting safety, and the Hawks’ kicker. It was his first game back from an injury-riddled sophomore season, and he showed that the building blocks were there for a successful junior and senior campaign. With a clean pocket, the ball placement, arm strength, and accuracy are all there, and high-level at that. He threw 3 TDs and 3 INTs, so the consistency and decision-making could be improved, but the talent is there for Van Voorst to evolve into a high-tier QB1.

Vanvoorst has been on my radar for a while now, and his stock skyrocketed to me after how well he performed last Monday. His arm talent surprised me. He was able to drill deep shots with solid accuracy and ball placement, and he rarely underthrew routes. He was able to throw those deep balls without launching rainbows, and even put a few intermediate and deep routes on a rope. Healed from injury and ready to rock for his junior year, he looks to be a problem. I’ll be at his Week 1 game this fall, and I can’t wait to see how this practice translates to on-field play.

I’m very excited to have a prospect from what was formerly the Minneapolis City Conference, my old stomping grounds as a prep, debut this highly in the state’s rankings. Representing the Minneapolis South Tigers, QB/DB

was the best athlete on South’s roster last fall, leading him to the all-important QB1 role, and although he can do some good things at QB, namely his accuracy, velocity, touch, and quick release, his athleticism is too hard to ignore and I’ve tagged him with the “ATH” designation at this point. A lot of good Minnesota prep prospects with similar resumes to Vanvoorst have found success at a different position in college, and as of right now, it looks like the 612 product could be the next great one. Even as a QB you can tell he’s athletic as well as smart, as he displayed the ability to recognize and adjust to blitzes and defensive fronts with his OL, and the 180 lber. does a good job of feeling and stepping up into the pocket to avoid pressure, as he’s a great scrambler who can extend plays and buy time behind the LOS and outside of the pocket. Vanvoorst is also a slippery and twitchy ball carrier and can embarrass defenders in 1-on-1 situations in space, and although there are no reps of him on defense in his freshman film, he posted 17 tackles as a safety in 2023.
What really gets me excited though is Vanvoorst’s performance at December’s PrepRedzoneMN Stock-Up Showcase, where the freshman posted a 4.8 40, 4.65 shuttle, and 8’4 broad jump while showing some noticeable muscle definition for a 14/15 year old. Good to see the athleticism on tape backed up by some positive testing numbers, but there’s a long way to go with this dynamic Minneapolis athlete. Go Tigers!
