Asa is putting together a great senior season, and has recently seen it pay off with an offer from Drake. Asa has definitely made strides in his game since 2023. The senior has grown more comfortable in that frame with elite length and it is paying off with him being able to bend more around the edge and also cut laterally while on his path into the backfield. The DE also has solid range to crash off the edge and chase down RBs from behind. Asa can also play stout on the edge vs the outside run. He is able to drive OTs off the ball or stand them up at the line. Poister has always had the size, but now body control and mobility are making his natural tools even more dominant.

Asa is an intriguing DE prospect whose best football is still ahead of him. The GB Notre Dame product has rare length at 6’6″. Length that college programs covet. Watching through the tape, Poister can get even better at using that length to win his battles. However, we do see him win with some hand use and more noticeably his lateral agility. Asa moves side to side rather quickly and suddenly for a kid with his length and 220 lbs on his frame. Pair a solid first step off the ball with that lateral agility and you have an athlete with so much raw talent to work with and coach up. Asa holds offers from Butler and Bemidji State. Don’t miss out on the steal.

. Asa is blessed with elite, rare length at 6’6″ and a 220 lbs build with plenty of space to continue to add bulk to. Asa demonstrates impressive body control at his size. He effectively uses that length to create separation and then he will flash lateral agility as he cuts left/right while rushing to give himself a cleaner path to the QB. Poister is also very effective against the run. He is quick to recognize his man leaving him to be kicked out and will collapse down to meet the block and stuff the running lane before it can even open. The effort is there too, highlighted by flashing the speed to chase down across the formation for tackles.

A player who is just starting to come into his own is Notre Dame Academy’s Asa Poister. The junior checks in at an elite 6’6″ 220 lbs, and his frame is poised to fill out and add the type of strength to make him an unfair mismatch. On tape, the long prospect shows the body control needed to be an impact at the next level. He can change pad level, bend, dip, and change direction or move laterally naturally. Asa also has the range to make the chase down play from behind. He also consistently gets his hands involved to create separation, but we need to see more pass rush moves after the separation. That stuff should be coachable. What he brings to the table is a lot of uncoachable traits that coaches at the next level look for. Don’t sleep on the big man.
