Valdez should take full reign of the Long Island Lutheran backfield this season after the graduation of Ethan Licin. Valdez had the best yards per carry on the team last season and will return to an offense that is losing their top three receivers and Licin who led them in carries last season. Long Island Lutheran should be reliant on Valdez early in the season to get their offense going. Valdez is short for a running back but he has really good speed and is very direct as a runner. He also is a wrestler which is a secondary sport that translates really good to football. Valdez runs with intent and regardless of size can run through tackles. His wrestling background helps him routinely break tackles through getting low. I am really intrigued with what Valdez is going to be able to do this season with increased opportunities out of the backfield.
