However, because some positions were thinner than others with New York Prospects (Less than 10 NY DL+RB vs. Over 25 NY QBs) I stuck with three and made a list of honorable mentions at each position. There were some positions where a bunch of players were in consideration and somewhere only one or two stood out to be that level above their competition. Regardless, in some capacity, these guys really impressed me during camp.
Quarterbacks
Jake Tripptree Jake Tripptree 6’1″ | 185 lbs | QB Sayville | 2024 State NY was really consistent with his throws at camp. He was really accurate at the intermediate range at camp and did a really good job of throwing his receivers open. I think Tripptree had really good timing on his throws and was really good at hitting receivers at the best point in their route.
Highlights
AJ Miller AJ Miller 6’3″ | 200 lbs | QB Rye | 2024 State NY has really solid fundamentals as a passer and with really solid length he is a really smooth thrower at his height. I like the touch that Miller had on his throws and he did a great job of altering the trajectory of his balls based on the routes he was throwing. Miller had a really solid camp and was able to showcase his arm talent throughout camp.
Highlights
Running Backs
Anthony Valdez Anthony Valdez 5’8″ | 170 lbs | RB Long Island Lutheran | 2024 State NY was a standout athlete at camp. Valdez is explosive and did a great job breaking out of his cuts. Valdez did a really good job as a pass catcher and was really good at turning his head upfield the second he had the ball secured. I really liked the reps I saw from Valdez and he had a really solid camp.
Highlights
Kareem Grey Kareem Grey 5’9″ | RB Holy Trinity | 2025 State NY had a solid performance at camp. While Grey had some solid success in 1v1 drills I was really impressed by how he looked in individual drills and combine testing. Grey has really quick feet and I think he does a great job of using his hips to showcase elite change of direction and foot speed. I also liked Grey’s pass blocking reps where he showed really solid fundamentals as a pass protector from the backfield.
Wide Receivers
Troy Worrell Troy Worrell 5’8″ | 155 lbs | WR Williston North hampton | 2025 NewE had some of the best routes at camp, Worrell’s ability to make quick cuts and have impressive change of direction in tight and small spaces were showcased in individual drills and 1v1s. Worrell did a really good job using his speed to win and had some of the best speed/acceleration amongst the wide receivers at camp.
Highlights
Chase Cruz Chase Cruz 5’10” | 150 lbs | WR Holy Trinity | 2025 State NY had a really solid camp and was one of the smoothest receivers at camp. Cruz did a good job of breaking out of cuts on his routes and was very solid catching the ball. Cruz was overall one of the most consistent performers at camp.
Will Hart Will Hart 6’0″ | 195 lbs | WR St. Anthony’s | 2025 State NY had a really solid camp and did a fantastic job at camp and his physicality from the receiver position was not only impressive but some of the best at camp amongst the entire group not just New York. Hart did not get many opportunities to showcase that physicality much as there was not a lot of press coverage or contact in camp but his other traits as an athlete in addition to that physicality make him an honorable mention.
Offensive Line
Keith Mcdowell Keith Mcdowell 6’4″ | 320 lbs | OL Patchogue Medford | 2026 State NY was really solid throughout camp and his size was really tough for defensive lineman to beat. Mcdowell performed well and still shows great room for improvement in his footwork and fundamentals. Mcdowell did a really good job of using his strength and length to keep defensive lineman in his control. Mcdowell displayed one of the highest ceilings amongst the offensive line group at camp.
Zach Gagner had a solid camp and had really solid reps against some of the better defensive lineman at camp. I really liked Gagner’s lower body strength and the way he was able to keep leverage against blockers. Gagner was really consistent with his performance and continuously put out good reps with good effort throughout camp.
Highlights
Defensive Line
Jeru Hall Jeru Hall 5’11” | DL William Floyd | 2026 State NY was solid during camp. Hall showcased really solid reps winning with quickness while also showcasing some reps where quickness and speed were the factors in winning. The lack of consistency across his reps is why Hall is just an honorable mention but when Hall flashes he peformed quite well.
Linebackers
I wish we had a 4th team to announce because Seamus Miller Seamus Miller 6’1″ | 220 lbs | LB Chaminade | 2024 State NY easily deserves that recognition and was probably the top performing honorable mention and a standout in a stacked linebacker group from New York. Miller displayed really good instincts and athleticism and he had really competitive reps against the best running backs. Miller was great in camp and one of the best at a very deep position group.
Highlights
Luke Butler Luke Butler 5’11” | 205 lbs | LB Solvay | 2024 State NY was a solid performer and did his best work when facing the RBs in pass protection. Butler showed really solid lower body strength and his ability to use his hands as weapons on those reps.
Defensive Backs
Neron Wilmot Neron Wilmot 5’10” | 165 lbs | ATH Archbishop Stepinac | 2026 State NY was a solid performer through camp. Wilmot made the right plays and had solid fundamentals throughout his reps. Wilmot showed really solid instincts around the catch point. One of Wilmot’s best traits is his positioning. Wilmot was always in really solid position even when he allowed receptions during his reps.
Highlights
Jajuan Williams Jajuan Williams 5’9″ | 140 lbs | DB Sweet Home | 2026 State NY showcased elite quickness and change of direction throughout camp. His ability to stick with receivers on short routes that involved multiple cuts or stops & go was really solid. Williams stood out during individual drills and I really liked his athleticism through combine testing. Williams showcased some traits that not every cornerback is lucky to have and for that needs to be mentioned.
