Amarri Cephas Amarri Cephas 5'9" | 150.5 lbs | DB/WR Deptford | 2030 NJ may have had the top catch of the entire event on Saturday. Getting reps in a 7v7 format, Amarri ran a skinny post into zone coverage. With two men on him and the QB looking his direction, Amarri used his explosiveness to high point the ball over both defenders and come down with the ball. That play alone left a lasting impression on all of the coaches in attendance, and from there on out all eyes were on Amarri any time he stepped onto the field.

Cephas took strong and long strides throughout the afternoon, and was attacking the ground with each rep. He had a high motor throughout the day, and made some nice catches, with good routes during the 1v1 portion. He gained good separation and off the line he was an exceptional target.

It only took one play for Amarri to catch the attention of all of those in attendance. Amarri showed off his quickness and play making ability by catching a slant across the middle and taking it the distance by splitting the defense in half. His acceleration and top end speed caught the defenders off guard, proving that he is a weapon to be aware of.

Amarri Cephas is a complete dawg on the gridiron as a defensive back and wide out. He is a kid who is going to stand out and make plays in the skilled positions groups at the “RIZE” in New Jersey. He is going to have a good showing because he is a versatile player. Stay tuned for what Cephas can and will do!

Running a quick slant across the middle, Amarri then turned up field and outran the entire defense for a score. The ability to maintain his speed through the catch and still continue to accelerate in the open field caught every player in the secondary off guard. Amarri showed superb route running skills through the tournament and is a true, natural wide receiver.

However, the explosive athlete has decided to go the public school route and will be at Deptford High School in the fall. Cephas took a reclass year in 2025 and had a stellar season with the Deptford Spartans 14U squad, solidifying himself as one of the most dangerous athletes in the state with the ball in his hands. In addition to offense and defense, he was also lethal in the return game this past season.
