One of the most instinctive defensive backs I got to watch at the Augustana prospect camp was Gretna (NE) 2024 defensive back Alex Runge. Alex showed off a massive range he could cover in the Indy drills and 1v1s I got to watch out of him in Sioux Falls. Another skillset Alex popped out to me with was his vertical as he showed off. He showed off some extremely catchy footwork that creates plenty of chaos for wide receivers with his ball-tracking ability. In testing Alex, showed off much consistency with a 4.31 twice. Alex is a prospect with no offers at the moment, but in my eyes is one I would offer right now if I was a scholarship-level college football program.

Runge is another player that plays on Defense while contributing on offense and special teams. Runge is the epitome of a Gretna player. He is tough, smart and gives you maximum effort between the lines. Runge had 4 interceptions and 2 fumble recoveries during the 2022 season. He can come up in the box to make tackles, but his true strength is his burst out of the back pedal towards an open receiver. His instincts are an asset and area scouts will take notice.
