Junior Alex Dawes Alex Dawes ATH Lincoln Southwest | 2028 State NE is another key piece to a very talented receiving corps for the Silver Hawks and that showed on Friday. Alex is a player who I felt was consistently open and consistently near the ball every time I looked over. He does an excellent job getting open at all levels of the field and was especially good in the short-intermediate range and redzone. Like his teammates, Dawes is also surprisingly twitchy which allows him to make sharp changes of direction at the top of his route to give him enough separation. Strong hands and a tough player who can hold on through contact.

The Silver Hawks narrowly missed the playoffs last season with a very young squad and will now return more experienced and hungry to get back to the postseason. One player who is primed for a big junior season is Alex Dawes Alex Dawes ATH Lincoln Southwest | 2028 State NE , who emerged as a star two-way player after leading the team in receiving yards with 21 catches for 332 yards and two touchdowns, as well as 35 tackles, four TFLs, and three interceptions. On offense, Alex is a great route runner who shows he can create separation with explosiveness off the ball, building speed through the stem before making a sharp break at the top of the route. He does a great job finding and exploiting the soft spots in coverage. Good hands at the catch point with the toughness to come down with some difficult receptions. Defensively, Alex plays with great instincts in coverage, identifying where the offense wants to go with the ball and getting there in time to force a turnover or an incompletion. Great range and closing speed. Look for a possible breakout campaign for Dawes now that he’s entering his junior year with valuable starting experience.
