2027 wide receiver and defensive back Alec Shumard Alec Shumard 5'11" | WR/DB Newcastle | 2027 OK returns this season as one of the leading receivers from last year’s team. He finished his junior season as Newcastle’s second leading receiver with over 30 catches for over 500 yards and four touchdowns. Like we mentioned earlier, the Racers do have a couple guys they could run out there at the quarterback position this season. Whoever ends up being QB1 is going to have a solid weapon in Shumard at the receiver position. We should also expect to see him play on the defensive side of the ball. He was a very solid piece to what Newcastle was able to do in the secondary last season.
