is the first of a few prospects on this breakdown that will be on a new squad this season after starting elsewhere last year. Wilson was a starter for Southmoore last fall and emerged as one of the better safeties in the state’s 2029 class. He was a tackling machine and a big part of a Southmoore defense that was one of the better units in 6A-2 last season. Now, he’s moved over to Newcastle and he’s looking to be an instant impact player for a Racer squad that made the 5A semifinals last year. At this time last year, we were talking about Wilson more as a running back but the production can’t be denied on the defensive side of the ball.

was on our radar but it was as a running back. That changed following his freshman season because Wilson started for the Sabercats on defense and produced at a very high level. He finished the year with 50 tackles and a pair of interceptions. You throw on the film and you see a player that looked very comfortable competing against 6A-2 competition. He made plays close to the line of scrimmage as an inside corner and he also looked comfortable as a roving safety that could find the ball and attack. His speed was something that had our attention back before the season and that speed was on full display when it came to getting from point A to point B in a hurry. There’s a lot of potential for Wilson as an overall athlete moving forward.

Dai’zjon is a tough running back to bring down on first contact. He sees the field well and makes quick moves to open up running lanes. When bursting into open field he has enough speed to maintain distance or separate if not touched. Wilson sticks out on film with his athleticism and toughness.
