Long Island’s top performers at the Elite V Showcase

Some players from Long Island made the trip over the bridge and they didn't disappoint. Melore was extremely consistent and made it look easy. He showed his versatility of coming down with 50/50 balls and being one of the top route runners. Melore's smoothness in his game showed and he had some of the best hands at the event. When the ball was in Melore's area he was coming down with it. His straight line speed was also impressive as that guided him to a couple of big plays downfield. Last year he broke the Long Island single season record for receptions and with how consistent his hands are it's easy to see why. At this showcase he got challenged with some bigger competition and he didn't back down. Galindo rose to the occasion and was able to control some of the better pass rushers in the city. It was evident during his junior year of how strong he was, but during the showcase his footwork was on display. He strung together quite a few big time throws. The lack of chemistry with these receivers didn't seem to affect him that much. Vino got a lot of reps since there weren't a ton of quarterbacks at the event and he took advantage of it. He threw some dimes and was one of the top quarterbacks of an elite QB pool. He showed that he is making the strides to be an elite player for the Friars loaded varsity team this fall. Alfaro got noticeably bigger and more explosive. You were able to see it when he was running his routes with precision and explosiveness to help get away from his defender downfield. His ability as a receiver as a whole keeps growing and it was impressive to see him haul in a bunch of passes throughout the event. His burst off the line of scrimmage instantly gave him a huge advantage as he got by cornerbacks that tried to jam him at the line of scrimmage. After that it'd be Hansen showing off his speed and he would get down field and make plays. When he worked with his quarterback Tripptree, it looked very smooth. That will be a great combination in the fall. DiMenna was one of the strongest players at the entire event. There was no bull rushing at all on DiMenna. His strength was accompanied by his solid footwork which made him so difficult to beat. He handled some very talented edge rushers with ease. He is turning into one of the top offensive lineman in this class. Dietrich made the most of his reps as he was one of the better route runners at the event, He made things look very smooth and he was able to create separation at a consistent rate against his defenders. Singleton was one of the bigger running backs at the event and he had some burst to his game. He looked great running short routes and he was able to catch passes with ease. Against linebackers, he did his thing and got open quickly. Singleton has good awareness and field vision whether he's carrying the ball as a running back or if he was a receiving threat like he was at the showcase. The combination of speed and power is something people have to watch for in the fall which could help him have a breakout junior season. He looked terrific when it was his throwing the ball. He was very smooth and he easily had one of the strongest arms at the event. His speed and his change of direction were truly X factors during his reps. His ability to stop on a dime and lose his defender helped him secure easy catches. When showing off his downfield ability, we got to see the blazing speed he has.
