Since it's the end of the week let's hit double digits with the prospects we break down. Today we have 10 athletes that have very strong traits that should grab the attention of next level coaches. These athletes are going to be putting on shows this summer in the camp circuit, and will have a big impact on the fall season when it kicks off. Grant has the prototypical frame at 6'4u0022 185 lbs and fits the play style of a pocket passer. He is at his best when he can drop back, go through his progressions, and deliver the ball on time. When he is in his groove, Grant is a very accurate passer. I was impressed with his ball placement throughout his highlights. Grant has sufficient arm strength to attack the short to intermediate levels of the field. He can deliver the ball with zip out to 20 yards consistently. Lastly, Grant has shown the poise needed from pocket passers. He will stand in the pocket and deliver the ball with pressure in his face. This season I want to see that arm strength make another jump so he can hit those tight windows further downfield. Watching through his highlights, I believe he looks his best at the LB position. He can play at the line of scrimmage, drop into coverage, or rush the QB off the edge. Wedin's range and lateral agility give him that ability to drop into coverage. He is able to cover ground shuffling while reading the QB's eyes. He also uses that lateral movement to better take on blocks when setting the edge against the run. It helps him to only have to beat half a man instead of the whole block. On offense, Owen uses his athleticism to get open from the slot and the traditional, inline TE position. In those alignments he is able to get favorable matchups against LBs. Right off the bat, Sebastian has great length for the OT position. He has a 79u0022 wingspan, and his frame has all the room needed to get to the size required to play OL at the next level. Luevano's highlights show a prospect who is light on his feet, and that allows him to move in every direction easily. Sebastian uses those long arms well in pass protection to steer rushers wide of the QB. I want to see Luevano really hit the weight room hard this offseason. Tyler first jumps out as a blitzer. His burst to top speed allowed him to fly through gaps and then create disruption in the backfield. That speed also allows the junior to play from sideline to sideline and chase down ball carriers that get out on the edge. Lastly, Hegarty reads and reacts to plays quickly throughout his highlights. He plays off reaction instead of thinking. That paired with his speed allows him to be all over the field. He lined up at slot corner/OLB on the majority of plays and his speed put him in position to make a lot of plays. Chase also is quick to process plays and react. That gives him an extra step when shutting down plays. Yinko is an effective blitzer off the edge. His speed makes it very hard for an OT to get deep enough to cut him off. Chase also has the range to quickly chase down plays from behind in the backfield. Out in space, Yinko has loose hips, quick feet, and the body control needed to change direction on a dime to get to different spots in his zone quickly. HIs technique is developing well both from the pocket and thrwoing on the run. The velocity is solid in th eshort to intermideate ranges of teh field. Continuing tod evelop his arm strength for the deep shots will push his game to the next level. I believe right now he is a potential D3 prospect. He has inside and outside off ball LB talents. From the inside, Landon is a reliable run stuffer. He plays downhill, fights through blocks, and is able to maneuver through all the trash at the line of scrimmage. Landon also has shown that he can line up out over the slot and cover the flat zone. Cashmore slides well laterally as he reads the QB in coverage. Lastly, Landon looks to be a sound tackler. I really like him lined up in the slot position. That is where he can win with his superior quickness and change of direction. Gunner is an explosive route runner. He uses his body control, and quick feet to burst through breaks in his routes. DBs at this level have a hard time sticking on him in man through those breaks and it opens up a lot of space for the QB to target. Boegli also has enough long speed to threaten defense deep down the field. Lastly, Gunner is a hard athlete to contain with the ball in his hands. That quickness of his allows him to juke and cut away from defenders anywhere on the field. The junior averaged over 22 yards/rec last fall. He set the school record for single season TDs (17), and single season completion percentage (63.6%). As a sophomore, Owen did a great job of taking over the helm. They utilized him on a lot of roll outs where he showed off his accuracy on the run. It also showed off some poise. The underclassman kept his eyes downfield in those scenarios, and wasn't looking to run. Dobberstein has good control over his ball placement. This fall I will be looking to see how the arm strength has developed as well as his footwork when going through his drop inside the pocket. While undersized, Colvin's talent perfectly fits how he needs to play. Anthony is explosive with his acceleration. When he sticks his foot in the ground he can launch himself to top speed by the time he hits the line of scrimmage it seems like. Colvin processes what he sees quickly too and that allows him to play at top speed. Anthony also was used on defense. That explosive speed gives him excellent range from the safety/OLB position too. RB/DB will be his focus for the next level.
