About Caleb
Expert Analysis
Jordan Reyes | Prep Redzone Scout
He dominated with 12 receptions for 188 yards and 2 touchdowns, proving difficult to cover thanks to his size, catch radius, and precise route running. A natural pass catcher, he consistently finds soft spots in coverage and makes contested catches look routine. Currently committed to Texas A&M, he is widely regarded as one of the top tight end prospects in the country.

Caleb Tafua jumps off the field right away. His athleticism is flat‑out special, the kind of stuff that makes coaches start dreaming up ways to use him all over the formation. He can line up wide, slide inside to the slot, or play a traditional tight end role without missing a beat. He’s got the length and strength to hold his own in the run game, where his reach lets him lock up defenders and create lanes. But it’s not just about size — he’s incredibly fluid for his frame and moves like a much smaller player. What really stands out is how he makes tough catches look routine — big body, strong hands, and fearless through contact. He doesn’t shy away from physicality, but at the same time he’s smooth enough to slip past defenders and turn short gains into chunk plays. He’s basically a matchup nightmare: too big for defensive backs to muscle up with, too fast for linebackers to keep up with, and versatile enough to hurt you in a bunch of different ways. It feels like every snap he’s on the field, he forces the defense to make a tough choice — and more often than not, it’s the wrong one.

A prototypical major D1 TE with his combination of size, athleticism, and receiving ability. At 6’4” 215 lbs. he already possesses ideal length with the frame to add weight without sacrificing any of his speed or movement ability. Very natural catcher of the football with elite level body control and ball skills to make tough contested receptions in traffic or compete for the ball at the high point. Plus route runner that does a good job finding space and creating a throwing lanes for the QB. He’s extremely savvy and instinctual after the catch and is a tough tackle after the catch as he gains forward momentum. Can also make defenders miss in space. Currently the top ranked 2026 TE in the PRZ Rankings holding seven D1 offers with five of them being PAC12 programs.
