Every Friday during February through April, we’re going to throw on the tape and break down athletes across Oklahoma. In February, we put out a tweet asking prospects in the 2024-2026 classes to send us their film for our Film Review feature. Over 150 responses later and we’re off to the races. We’ve reviewed over 100 prospects all over Oklahoma so far and we’re not close to slowing down. This week, we have two parts for you to check out. This is Part One, to check out more athletes on Part Two, CLICK HERE. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma every Friday for more breakdowns on athletes across Oklahoma.
If you’re not featured this week but have sent us your film, don’t worry! You’re on the list and will be covered in the future. Now, all of these breakdowns are based on the film we have access to. And this isn’t just a puff piece. While the majority of the breakdowns will be positive, it will also include areas to improve, question marks and more for the prospect to work on as we head into the spring and summer.
Austin Hardwick
Austin Hardwick
In this week’s Friday Film Review, we are going to start with a quarterback out of Pocola. Hardwick is in the class of 2024 and is a signal caller for Pocola. He will be a returning starter for his team and shows some leadership out on the field. When the pocket breaks down, he is orchestrating his receivers where to go. Hardwick is not afraid to stand in the pocket and deliver the ball. He makes good reads and gets the ball out to his playmakers. Hardwick has good zip on the ball and made several passes in tight windows to his receiver core. Hardwick stands in at 5’7″ but looks to be athletic and could play other positions if Pocola needed. Tough to play quarterback at the next level with his height but would be interested to see any other film he may have at other positions.

The next film review we turned on is Sites from Weleetka High School. In the class of 2026, Sites has a good frame and is not afraid to go up and get the ball at wide receiver or safety. Sites does a good job grabbing the ball at the highest point and comes down with it. Weleetka utilizes Sites all over the field, even at running back. He shows good vision and hits the hole quickly. It doesn’t matter where he is on the field, Sites shows good balance and is effective with the ball in his hands. Being in the class of 2026, it will be good to see where Sites is in a few years with developing on both sides of the ball. I believe he will continue to make strides and should have a good sophomore season.
Here is another athlete that we will take a look at out of the 2026 class here in Oklahoma. Sartin plays out at cornerback and does a good job setting the edge and not allowing the ball carrier to get outside of him. He is quick in his backpedal and sets his t-post to get downhill to attack the ball or ball carrier. On the offensive side of the ball, Sartin plays the quarterback position. I enjoy watching him throw his deep ball in rhythm. The way the ball comes out of his hand and his placement is good. I would like to see him throw more timing routes to his receivers and see him get the ball out in this position. On defense, I would like to see more pass plays with him in coverage. With him only being a 2026 athlete this next season, we will be able to see plenty of these clips.
Highlights
Leland Smith
Leland Smith
Our first 2025 athlete that we will take a look at is Smith out of Edmond Memorial. Standing in at 6’2″ and weighing in over 215 pounds, Smith plays H back and defensive end. On the offensive side of the ball, he catches the ball well out of the backfield. He is physical on the point of contact with his defenders and keeps his feet moving. Smith does a good job getting up to the second level of the defense and seals them off. Out at defensive end, Smith plays well down the line of scrimmage to make the play when it is run away from him. Smith comes off the ball quickly and likes to play in his opponents’ backfield. I would like to see him use his hands more playing on the defensive line and reading where the ball is. A good offseason this year, and he will have a good Junior season.
Trevor Gage
Trevor Gage
The last athlete that we will take a look at is Gage out of Owasso. Owasso is big up front, and it doesn’t stop at the tight end position with Smith. He is in the 2024 class and plays tight end for the Rams. He has a good frame that he can continue to add weight and still move around well. He comes off the line of scrimmage quickly and moves his feet on the impact of blocking his defender. He is a big body kid that is an easy target for his quarterback to get him the ball. He catches the ball well and moves the chains. I would like to see him work on his pad leverage when he comes off the ball in his run blocks and not allow defenders to cross his face. Gage will look to have a good Senior season with the Rams and looks to improve in all facets of his game.
