on the 1st quarterback article. This kid is an absolute stud of an athlete and quarterback. The day before the 7-on-7 tournament, he was at the Elite-11, where he put up insane numbers. He then came to the 7-on-7 tournament on Sunday, and he played well. Benzio is a physically impressive quarterback with great size (6’4″) and athleticism. He also has a strong arm, good mechanics, and footwork. Benzio is a talented player who can do it all as a quarterback. The Navy Academy is getting a special player as he is committed there.
Super busy this past weekend. On Saturday I was blessed to be able to compete at Elite 11 with the best in the country.

Then on Sunday I got to compete with my guys in the @PrepRedzone 7v7 tournament. Below are some of my throws from 2 games ⬇️ pic.twitter.com/2jKtY9EvTn— Cannon Benzio

is a talented quarterback for Roman Catholic. He has great size (6’4″) and athleticism. He can do it all on the football field. He recently decided to shut down his recruitment, and he is now committed to the Navy. A great opportunity for him to go and play for the Naval Academy.
After much prayer and consideration I am blessed to announce that I am 100% committed to playing Division 1 football at Navy! Thank you @_CoachNew @Drew_Cronic @CoachIvinJasper @NavyCoachYo and the rest of the staff for this opportunity! #RollGoats #GoNavy pic.twitter.com/wFTUcSQdgo

- recently re-invited to a regional Elite11 camp. 6’4, 210 pounds. Up an inch and 20 pounds since we last saw him at camp. Shows off a great 4.58 GPA. Will be ranked among 2027 PA QBs moving forward, away from NJ prospects since his transfer from the Pennington School to Roman Catholic. A Division One grade provided by me early on. Picked up early offers via Sacramento State and Toledo. I’ll get into his junior tape below, production that earned him 1st-Team MAPL honors.
- Posted a seven-minute tape back in late November. Played in six games, threw just 78 passes yet managed to impress. Passes the eye test, I might be a bit biased when talking about his potential and frame, as I’ve seen both his size and arm talent up close via in-game and in-camp settings. Can move well for his size, understands when to stay in the pocket and when to escape. Works well to his right, several reps on tape show how much power and torque Benzio has in his hips, especially visible when rolling out. Has a QB keeper that proves his mobility, too. Can drive the ball for collegiate-level throws if given the chance to step into a pocket. Again, Benzio shows off elite traits, it’s always a been a matter of him putting the evidence out on Hudl. Happy to see he’s done that. He’ll be squarely in the mix for the best PA 2027 QB prospect now that he’s at Roman. Range to push the ball downfield is there. Attention to detail from a footwork perspective is evident. Three-level thrower, brimming with confidence. So long as Benzio continues on the right developmental path both on and off the field, he’s a Power Four capable QB in my eyes. Excited to see him this off-season.

. There’s no doubting his talent and recruiting ceiling, he’ll just have to do what he can to consistently put throws like the one above up on Hudl, week in and week out. Great accuracy and mechanics on this rollout. More of this.

The easy choice for QB MVP at this event, despite there being several highly-ranked passers in attendance. This comes from the coaches present too, I didn’t have to plug

‘s name much post-camp. I, as well as coaches in attendance, were all under the impression that no QB outplayed Benzio at this event. Benzio is going to explode onto the scene in terms of production once he gets his shot to start full-time at Pennington. I was basing a substantial amount of my prior eval on what people close to him have said. After this event, I have tangible evidence that backs up bold claims I’ve made in the past. Benzio’s size/build checks out immediately. The kid is as advertised when watching him work in person. Yes, Benzio is just a 2027, yet I feel good about his potential durability at the next level, so long as he stays in the weight room. Consistency is high on my totem pole when evaluating QBs in a setting like the one presented last weekend at Spooky Nook. Can you replicate accurate passes, can you hit corner routes in-stride over and over again, can you replicate your release and have it look the same with each passing rep. I came away pleased with Benzio here. Each time I saw Benzio work a rep, I trusted knowing it would look the same hours from then.
Benzio flaunted a clean neutral stance. Relaxed but under control, balanced, the young man looks to avoid unnecessary movements. Stepped into each throw, finishes throws by following all the way through, puts the sword in the sheath. Deadly accurate, this was my major takeaway post camp. Love the depth perception he works with. Love the ideas he has with the football. I witnessed Benzio throw into tight windows, this while working with wideouts he has zero chemistry with. Benzio mixed tempo too, he could throw dots in tight coverage, he could lay balls out in front of speedy wideouts too. Great overall performance that led to Benzio being named QB MVP.
🌟 The Pennington School’s Cannon Benzio

was the MVP of a talented group, he had everyone buzzing with his accuracy. New Jersey Class of 2027 56th ranked prospect helped his stock immensely with his outing at Spooky Nook. He should start to get on FBS coaches radar if he isn’t already, Benzio looks like the real deal.

Question I Want Answered: Is this a Power Four QB Prospect?
6’4, 205 pounds. 4.0 GPA, ranked as the 6th best QB prospect among 2027 New Jersey passers. Self-reports some impressive testing numbers, excited to see if he can replicate a 9’10” Broad Jump and 4.4 Shuttle at our camp. Former South Philly Shark, a young man who has grown exponentially over the years, this in terms of height and weight. I can’t pretend to have extensive knowledge of all things surrounding Pennington School’s Cannon Benzio. He resides out of my rein on PRZ, I haven’t watched him play in person. I have heard rumblings about this young man’s potential, his tape and highlights I come across certainly portray exactly that. Before I plug him to the names I know across the Northeast, I want to see something substantial with my own eyes. I want to see if his height/weight checks out, I want to see how lively his arm is, how seasoned his release is as a current underclassman. What’s his temperament like? Excited to learn some things this Friday night.

From what I can tell, the Pennington School is slowly bringing along a sophomore ranked inisde the top 75 of his class.
6’4, 190 pounds. 4.0 GPA, was a well-known prospect headed into the high school ranks, has ties to South Philly if I’m not mistaken. Phenomenal size, the kid projects well from a tool perspective. Take Prestigiacomo as the low-ceiling, high-floor prospect, Benzio is your polar opposite. The Pennington School can win with both, shout out to the coaching staff for being able to win football games while developing both an upperclassman and an underclassman.
The upside is tangible, just a day before writing, Benzio posted four minutes worth of quality reps. These reps apparently coincide with Prestigiacomo, these aren’t JV/B-Team reps. *Eval – First rep on tape has Benzio ripping a corner route 35 yards downfield, layering the football over coverage despite being yards deep into his own end zone. Throws with anticipation. Has a ways to go from a footwork perspective, his base and throwing motions aren’t always replicated between reps, yet I’m not in-house to know mechanics beyond what I see on Hudl. Has a big arm, an arm that can stretch the field. Can drop a ball into a bucket 35+ yards downfield, a ton of flare to this kid’s game. Good pacing working his drop back, helmet/eyes dart around the field during some reps, love to see him scan the field for open targets. Unafraid to test tight windows, Benzio has completed some seriously tough/contested throws. Confidence is clearly through the roof, I don’t come across many underclassmen passers willing to hit Posts with coverage underneath and over top. Glad to see our NJ lead Brendan Mankarious rank the young man as high as he did this past off season, it’s warranted.

Cannon Benzio, representing Pennington, stands out as a quarterback prospect in the 2027 class, boasting a commanding presence at 6’1” and 175 pounds. His imposing stature enables him to command the pocket effectively, allowing him to survey the field with confidence and poise. One of Benzio’s notable strengths lies in his ability to launch deep passes downfield. While his accuracy may still be a work in progress, particularly given his relative youth, he demonstrates a knack for airing out the ball and connecting with his receivers at a commendable rate. This aspect of his game presents a solid foundation upon which he can continue to refine and improve.Additionally, Benzio exhibits commendable mobility, showcasing the capacity to maneuver and evade pressure when necessary. Despite limited tape, he displays glimpses of his potential to extend plays with his legs and deliver accurate throws on the move—a trait that bodes well for his development as a dual-threat quarterback. As Benzio progresses in his high school career, there’s a palpable sense of anticipation regarding his evolution as a passer. While he already demonstrates proficiency in pushing the ball deep, there’s room for growth in terms of his ability to exploit tight windows and unlock the full spectrum of the field. With his skill set and potential, Benzio is poised to make significant strides in the upcoming season, and his continued development will undoubtedly be a storyline worth monitoring.
