September 1st is the first day that college coaches can reach out and communicate directly with 2022 prospects. If you’ve been on Twitter at any point today, you’ll see various graphics floating around from college programs all over the country. This is a big day for Oklahoma’s junior class as their recruitment really starts to have a spotlight on them.
Oklahoma’s 2022 class will continue to develop and we’ll see more and more prospects emerge in the class. But right now, you can’t help but look at three individual prospects who have emerged as the best in the state. Others will attempt to take the crown but these three have solidified themselves as the top three prospects in the state. And at this point, it’s hard to rank them 1-3. It’s more like 1A, 1B and 1C. And even putting a player at 1C seems disrespectful. For now, we’re just going to call them the “2022 Big Three”. They are Booker T Washington’s Gentry Williams Gentry Williams 6'0" | DB Booker T Washington | 2022 State OK , Deer Creek’s Jacob Sexton Jacob Sexton 6'6" | OL Deer Creek | 2022 State OK and Edmond Santa Fe’s Talyn Shettron Talyn Shettron 6'3" | WR Edmond Santa Fe | 2022 State OK .

The Booker T Washington standout is without a doubt the top athlete in the state of Oklahoma’s 2022 class. Williams is the fastest player in Oklahoma and uses those skills on offense and defense. Williams is outstanding on both sides of the ball but his brightest future might be as a shutdown cornerback where he won’t get beat based on speed alone. After spending some time at quarterback, Williams is finding his most success as just a flat out athlete. Booker T uses Williams in a variety of ways on both sides of the ball. In their week zero win over Southmoore, Williams did a great job in the secondary, along with 2021 CB

. On offense, he made plays as a receiver, catching and running the ball. He had a fourth quarter touchdown that sealed the 28-10 victory. It could be a huge year for Williams.

checks every single box you want in an elite offensive tackle. The big man is the next All American candidate to come out of Oklahoma along the offensive line. What’s scary is how much better he’ll get between now and Signing Day because he appears to be one of the best in the country right now. While there’s always room to grow, Sexton is the complete package. Put him into the same conversation as former in-state prospects like Andrew Raym, Brey Walker and Creed Humphrey. Sexton is that next man up and is in the conversation with those three prospects. Sexton is an absolute force on the line of scrimmage. It would be shocking if he doesn’t end up getting an All American invite. When it’s all said and done, Sexton is going to be able to play college ball wherever he wants.

is right there with the other two prospects as hands down the best in Oklahoma. Shettron burst onto the scene as a freshman and then built on that with a strong sophomore season. He’s a complete playmaker with great hands. He looks to be one of the better receivers to come out of Oklahoma in recent memory. Out of all the 2022 prospects, Shettron might be the most productive prospects so far in his career. At least when it comes to skill positions where you can see the production in the numbers. Shettron was somewhat limited in Santa Fe’s opener against Owasso. However, he still found a way to come up with a few catches, including a spectacular fade reception in the fourth quarter. Shettron has also showed the ability to impact the game on special teams.
