Del City opened up the 2022 campaign at home against Choctaw, who was previously ranked #1 in 6A-2. They would knock the Yellowjackets out of the top spot with a 38-34 victory in a very entertaining game from start to finish. The Eagles contained Choctaw star quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='38780' first='Steele' last='Wasel'] enough to get the win. In the last four years, the Hornets have a 3-1 advantage over Del City, although the Eagles have been very competitive in the last two meetings. Both teams have incredible talent on both sides of the ball. Three of the top twelve prospects in our 2023 rankings are in this match-up, with the Hornets having the top overall prospect in Arkansas commit [player_tooltip player_id='47959' first='Micah' last='Tease']. One of those players for Del City is offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='429797' first='Darreyl' last='Thomas']. It seems like it came out of nowhere, but in late July, Thomas tweeted out that he had received an offer from Kansas State and all of a sudden Thomas was a D1 prospect and a Power 5 prospect at that. There's no doubt that Del City has quite a few offensive linemen that have the chance to be pretty good. You start to think of u0022iron sharpens ironu0022 when you look at some of the defensive linemen and linebackers they go up against every day in practice. But Thomas is definitely a prospect on the rise in the 2024 class. Del City's offense did an excellent job in week zero and it all starts up front with Thomas and the offensive line.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"align":"","mode":"edit","anchor":"acf-block-68a5803e24023"} /-->
