Tyler kicked off the 2023 football season the same way he ended the 2022 season, in style! While Martinovich didn’t have a great night completion percentage wise only connecting on 50 percent of his passes going 7 of 14 for 72 yards through the air. And added 2 passing touchdowns to boot. On top of his passing performance Martinovich carried the ball 4 times for 38 yards to account for 110 total yards on the night.

plays quarterback at Brighton not because he is a prolific thrower but because you would not want any other player to touch the ball on every play. Martinovich is an elite athlete with long strides and really solid breakaway speed. He has a solid arm and can make the throws you expect but where he really changes the game is with his legs. Martinovich is a great runner and his ability to make quick cuts and get by defenders in just one or two steps makes him hard to tackle. Martinovich is not fast but defenders routinely take poor angles to tackle him because he is able to accelerate so quick. On the defensive side of the ball Martinovich is a solid cornerback who showcases solid range, length, and mirroring ability. He likely will play on the offensive side of the ball at the next level so his DB tape is not a huge factor in his evaluation. On offense Martinovich is a little behind the top tier of quarterbacks in this class in terms of his ability as a thrower but as a runner he could be the best. He could end up playing WR at the next level because of how elite he is as an athlete but if QB is the goal more consistent throws from the pocket would what I want to see this fall because we already know what Martinovich can do as a playmaker outside of the pocket.

Tyler Martinovich is a dual threat QB from Brighton High School that ended his junior season going 81/149 with 1,171 passing yards, 18 passing TDs, and had only 2 INTs. On the ground, he had 82 carries for 302 rushing yards, and had 3 TDs. Tyler is a big QB for his age standing in at 6’4” and weighing in at 190-pounds. When it comes to this upcoming season, he wants to break some of Brighton’s single season passing records, win sectionals, and make a run at the state’s championship game. I was so impressed with his ability to turn a broken play into something with his legs. Multiple times Martinovich was able to scramble out of the pocket to pick up the necessary yardage to move the chains and more. When running the read option, this is a QB that is a huge threat to take the play to the house for 6. The amount of times Tyler was able to make defenders miss in space with a simple juke move was incredible to see. Martinovich is not going to put the football in harms way in the air. He does an outstanding job at reading his keys, getting the ball out of his hands quickly, and taking the open receivers underneath. Tyler was able to make some big time throws deep down the field and in the intermediate level where the defenders were lurking. On play action, he does an outstanding job at selling the run and then making an accurate strike on the run. In addition to QB, Martinovich does play CB but coming into his senior season, I’m excited to how he improves his game at the QB spot.Twitter: @TylerMartinovi1Instagram: @Tyler.MartinovichHudl Profile: https://www.hudl.com/profile/15575007/Tyler-Martinovich
