It was great to see dozens of athletes take the opportunity to compete in front of college coaches this past Saturday and run with it. They came out, posted good athletic numbers during the combine and then proved they translated to the field. These athletes made a strong impression on me and the coaching staffs in attendance and kicked off their summer camp schedules with a bang. Those strong impressions are what we highlight today. Coaches, I insist you check these athletes out and try to see them in action this summer. Let's get into these strong impressions.

Last week I wrote about 2027s that I wanted to see in person this summer. Quintin was one of those athletes and I only had to wait a couple days before getting to see him in person at the Winona State camp. The 6'1" 182 lbs has definitely continued to grow and fill out that frame. He looks the part of a college QB now more than ever. The '27 QB started his day with a 4.96 40, 4.53 shuttle, 8'11" broad jump, and a 7.34 L-Drill.

But the main attraction was obviously the on field throwing. Quintin's best trait is his accuracy and all the pieces that aid in accuracy. Smooth footwork, efficient and repetitive throwing motion, and excellent control over where he places the football. The '27 QB was able to hit throws at every level of the field throughout the afternoon. Short to intermediate the '27 QB could put the ball on a rope or use touch and on the deeper passes Quintin leaded on accuracy and touch to drop it in over his guy's shoulder. Quintin's mechanics and accuracy should continue to earn him offers over the coming weeks.

Another WI QB who came out and put together a really good showing is Waukesha South's [player_tooltip player_id='1226901' first='Jordan' last='Garcia']. Jordan checked in at 6'1" 180 lbs, ran a 5.15 40, 4.57 shuttle, 8'6.5" broad jump, and a 7.31 L-Drill. Testing that perfectly highlights the '27 QB's ability to move quickly and elusively within the pocket to buy time and evade pressure.

On the field Jordan was one of the top passers of the day. He has a very quick and compact throwing motion that gets the ball out in the blink of an eye. Jordan impressed with his arm talent. He attacked every level of the field with accuracy and could put some heat on the ball to push it into tight spots. Jordan did well to put the ball where the coach wanted it and also took to coaching really well and could translate it into rep wins his next time around. The coachable '27 QB is an athlete coaches should be well aware of as we head into June.

A two way athlete coming out of Green Bay West who put together a solid day was [player_tooltip player_id='1604324' first='Luke' last='Rissling']. Luke participated primarily as an LB during the Winona State camp where he checked in at 5'9" 195 lbs, ran a 5.26 40, 4.93 shuttle, 8' broad jump, and a 7.50 L-Drill. What I noticed most is that Luke actually played much more fluid and quick than those numbers might suggest.

Once the pads went on Luke seemed to flip a switch. He showed that he can play on light feet, sliding laterally and changing direction in drills. The LB also had several strong reps in pass coverage. Against quick passes the '27 LB was able to flex an effective closing burst to the RB or TE. He also demonstrated that he could be extremely disruptive at the catch point to break up passes with accurate hands and good timing. The versatile 2027 is someone to keep an eye on this summer and into the 2026 season.

One of the best defensive performances of the camp was from Bay Port DB Brenen Flick. The '27 DB checked in at 5'9" 161 lbs, ran a 4.92 40, 4.58 shuttle, 8'9" broad jump, and a lightning quick 7.06 L-Drill. That was just the tip of the iceberg to what would be a great day from Flick.

On the field, with pads on, is where Brenen made a name for himself. The soon-to-be senior is so fluid and loose in his hips and let it be seen in positional work. He has a quick and comfortable backpedal, and can transition out of it quickly. The '27 also had several head turning plays in 1 on 1 battles. I loved how aggressive he was, jamming receivers at the line. He was able to impact releases and do so without getting himself in a bad position. That agility highlighted by his L-Drill time shined with his reactive athelticism as he was able to easily stay on the hip of the receiver through breaks. It was really impressive to watch him work 1 on 1 as a CB because we don't get to see that all the time as he plays all over the backfield for Bay Port. The versatile and talented 2027 proved to be someone to recruit this summer and fall.

I love camp season because it allows me the chance to get out and see athletes from other states. It is a great tool for me to be able to compare talent across state's and also just great to see new athletes perform. One of those great performances came from [player_tooltip player_id='1096597' first='Beckham' last='Vanvoorst'] of Robbinsdale Cooper. The 6'2" 200 lbs QB ran a 5.05 40, 4.65 shuttle, jumped 9'2", and ran a 7.47 L-Drill. Beckham stood out from the crowd with one of the best frames among the QB position, and when they started slinging it around it was clear that next level frame was equipped with a next level arm.

It looked easy, almost effortless, for Beckham to zip the ball to all three levels of the field. He has a very live arm with the arm strength to put the ball on a rope with very little air under it while still attacking 30+ yards downfield. Even while firing it all over the field, Beckham further separated himself with the accuracy he displayed on a lot of his pass attempts. The '27 QB will be one to take a long look at. There are some really impressive tools to work with here.

John Venvertloh, an IL recruit, made the trip up to Winona State and put together a strong showing. He checked in at 6' 183 lbs, ran a 4.95 40, 4.50 shuttle, jumped 8'11", and ran a 7.31 L-Drill. That athelticism doesn't get to shine much in camp environments, but it shines on his tape where he was fantastic at avoiding pressure and getting outside the pocket to buy time.

On the field over in Winona was where he let his arm do a lot of the talking. I was caught off guard by who well he could get the ball to come out of his hand with velocity. Velocity that carried all the way to the receiver. It allowed him to attack up the seam aggressively and be able to complete the throws deep to the sideline on time. He was also an accurate QB for the most part. He understood where the coaches wanted the recruits to go with the football and John was able to consistently place it in those spots. John is also coming off a very productive junior season. Definitely a name worth checking out.

A 2028 who caught my attention all afternoon was La Crosse Logan's Vik Kravanja. The 2028 checked in at 5'7" 140 lbs, ran a 4.78 40, 4.56 shuttle, jumped 8'7", and ran a 7.6 L-Drill. That was a solid start, but it was once the pads came on that I got very impressed by the 2028. In drills his quick feet and loose hips were among the best rep to rep in the group. It was easy for him to be able to flip and run or change direction or transition out of his backpedal.

1 on 1s was the cherry on top of Viktor's great day. Multiple times he was able to stick tight coverage to WRs and break up passes. He reacted to and broke on routes very quickly, closed fast if space was opened up, and was very good at using his hands to make completing the catch a nightmare for WRs. The underclassman played with confidence on a field of predominantly 2027s. I'm excited to watch Viktor continue to grow and develop.

This was my biggest surprise of the day. The freshman QB out of Onalaska performed so well among a talented group of QBs. A group of QBs that already hold several offers. Zach started the day checking in at 6' 185 lbs, ran a 5.36 40, 4.85 shuttle, jumped 8'11" in the broad jump, and ran a 7.60 L-Drill. The pocket passer really got to show off his traits when the pads went on.

That is where Zach proved to be ahead of a lot of the average freshmen QBs in his development. He already is so smooth and consistent with his footwork. His throwing motion is quick, and the prototypical over the top throwing motion giving him a high release point. The actual arm talent is ahead of his age too. He can push the ball to every level of the field with at least sufficient velocity on the ball. It also jumped out from the crowd how well he could control where he placed the football on almost every single attempt. I'm very impressed by the Onalaska 2029 QB. You need to have this kid on your radars starting today.
