Inside Carmel: Notes on Top Rising Prospects

I love how quickly Coellner can come out of a backpedal, break on the ball and use his hands to deflect passes - and deliver heavy hits. Coellner is developing speed and twitch. He already has the instincts, and continues to make big strides in the gym. If the Hounds' tailback has a big junior year, college coaches will be lining up to offer him. He is a tough inside runner who breaks through contact, stays balanced and can be hard to bring down, but he also has enough juice to run off-tackle as well. Johnson has good vision and patience to follow blocks. Southard fires forward to the second level, flashes a mean streak in the run game, and drives defenders off the ball to create vertical push. Needs some improvement in pass protection, where he tends to lunge in his posture. It's really hard not to like [player_tooltip player_id='1662604' first='Christopher' last='Harris'] and what he brings to the table for Carmel. Harris has a very quick release; ball comes off his hand fast. Has a good, accurate arm, throws with great velocity in the short/intermediate game and good touch on the deep ball.
