A case can be made that Friday night's quarterfinals are the most pressure-packed games of a season. With a victory, teams can exhale a bit. They've cemented their legacies by reaching The Dome for the state semifinals.

As such, special performances in those emotional quarterfinal games are remembered fondly. Let's take a look at some guys who came up big in Class 1A on Friday:

[player_tooltip player_id='1614184' first='Judd' last='Jirovsky'], SR, QB/DB, Grundy Center - Grundy Center's 50th win a row came at the hands of Beckman Catholic during Friday's 1A state quarterfinals. The Spartans' 21-0 victory sent them back to the UNI-Dome for the semifinals and a chance to win their fourth title in a row.

Jirovsky has lined up behind center during the last 24 victories and shined during Friday's quarterfinals. The senior ran for 147 yards (7.7 YPC) and two touchdowns, and threw for 56 yards and a score. On defense, he delivered 6.0 tackles (3 solo, 0.5 for loss). His one punt was a 51-yarder and he averaged more than 50 yards on four kickoffs.

Easton DeJong, JR, QB/S, West Lyon - The West Lyon offense poured it on during Friday night's 57-22 state quarterfinal victory against visiting Underwood. DeJong was at the front of that charge.

The junior signal caller completed 7 of 10 pass for 143 yards and two touchdowns without an interception, and rushed 10 times for 201 yards and a pair of scores. He caught a 13-yard touchdown for good measure.

[player_tooltip player_id='1844227' first='Peyton' last='Welch'], SR, QB/S, South Hardin - The Tigers were tamed a win short of last year's state finals. They wouldn't be denied a trip to the UNI-Dome for a second season in a row, however, taking down Treynor, 27-14, in Friday's quarterfinals.

Welch stepped up with a touchdown pass and two scores on the ground. He added a solo tackle and averaged 37.7 yards on three punts.

[player_tooltip player_id='1657101' first='Kyle' last='Tracy'], SR, QB/DB, Regina Catholic - At the time of publishing this piece, the Regals hadn't uploaded their statistics from Friday's 49-7 state quarterfinal victory against Pleasantville. So, I'm relying on the game story from Cedar Rapids Gazette reporter Ryan Pleggenkuhle for the numbers here. According to him, Tracy posted 267 passing yards, 84 rushing yards and five total touchdowns.

Ryder Slifer, SR, OL/DL, Grundy Center - The Spartans put the clamps on the Beckman Catholic offense during Friday's 21-0 victory in the Class 1A quarterfinals. Slifer was disruptive in that effort, registering 6.5 tackles (4.0 solo, 4.5 TFL) and 3.0 sacks. He also forced a fumble.

[player_tooltip player_id='1221929' first='Evan' last='Hildring'], SR, RB/LB, West Lyon - Hildring came through in a big way on both sides of the ball for West Lyon during a 57-22 triumph against Underwood in Friday's quarterfinals. The senior rushed for 96 yards (6.0 YPC) and a touchdown, and caught a pair of passes for 55 yards and two scores. Four of his 5.0 tackles were of the solo variety, and he picked off two passes.

Kameron Adams, SO, RB/DE, South Hardin - The Tigers advanced to the state semifinals with a 27-14 victory against Treynor on Friday night. Adams played a key role in the victory, rushing 27 times for 117 yards and a touchdown. Two of his 2.5 tackles were solo stops.

[player_tooltip player_id='466364' first='Tate' last='Wallace'], JR, TE/LB, Regina Catholic - As I wrote about when highlighting Wallace's teammate earlier in this story, the Regals hadn't uploaded their statistics from Friday's 49-7 state quarterfinal victory against Pleasantville at the time of publishing. I'm relying on the game story from Cedar Rapids Gazette reporter Ryan Pleggenkuhle for the numbers here. He had Wallace for three quarterback sacks and an additional tackle for loss with an 11-yard touchdown reception.

Julien Kramer, SR, TE/DE, Beckman Catholic - The Trailblazers couldn't generate much offense during Friday's 21-0 state quarterfinal loss to defending champ Grundy Center. Their defense gave them a chance, however, and Kramer was excellent doing his part. The senior came up with 5.0 tackles (4 solo, 2.0 TFL) and a pair of sacks.

[player_tooltip player_id='1197483' first='Braylon' last='Bingham'], JR, QB/S, Pleasantville - The Trojans struggled to keep up during a 48-7 loss at Regina Catholic in Friday's quarterfinals, but Bingham did what he could for the cause. The junior threw for 118 yards, rushed for 114 and a score, and four of his 4.5 tackles were solo.

[player_tooltip player_id='1221934' first='Garrett' last='Luett'], SR, QB, Underwood - The Eagles didn't get the result they wanted, falling, 57-22, to West Lyon in Friday's state quarterfinals, but Luett did what he could to keep them in it. The senior threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns, and rushed for 56 yards and a score.

Jett Sornson, SR, RB/DB, Treynor - The Cardinals put up a fight against South Hardin on the road in Friday's state quarterfinals before coming up short, 27-14. Sornson's effort running the ball kept them in it. The senior carried it 13 times for 123 yards and a touchdown.
