Expert Analysis

From a relatively unknown prospect and just the younger brother of Northern Iowa offensive lineman, Gabe Meaney, Brendan has had one of the bigger ascensions of OL in the state this spring. Meaney had several FCS and Group of 5 offers by the beginning of April, but has since picked up his first two Power 4 offers from Kansas and Kansas State. He’s also received interest from Iowa and Iowa State. It doesn’t appear that he’ll be following his brother to Cedar Falls.
Sure, Janesville isn’t exactly where big-time programs go looking for their offensive linemen, but on Meaney’s tape, it’s easy to see why the Wildcats and JayHawks felt like he was worth it. With a low pad-level despite his 6-foot-6 frame and a motor that doesn’t quit, Meaney is the type of OL every program would love to have in Iowa. A quick puller that gets out and finds someone to plow over, Meaney is, well, mean on the football field. He drives his assigned down-man back without remorse — exactly what an OL coach loves.
